Any features on what Directx 11 offers over what we've currently got? Like people have said, we all love a good beard, but what else?

I am waiting just for the expected grunt from these cards, I have saved world in conflict, crysis etc until I have a PC capable of playing them at high settings at high widescreen res in direct x 10.
Hopefully once these are released, I will build a new system revolving around one of these.

I wouldn't say it's a given Perfect it really does come down to which architecture plays nicer with dx11 i think at the minute although it is reasonable to assume if ati have a card out months before nvidia that they will aim to beat that card. As i said though if nvidia are too long bringing out their dx11 cards they might well release around the time ati bring out their refresh so i think performance is going to be a more close thing then it has been in the past.

Not many at all. But the list will increase. Personally, I don't care about DirectX11, I just want a new generation of powerful cards
Dirt 2 having DX11 now is good news for me, makes Win7 upgrade in 2 months even nicer as well as a dx11 card for my Bday in December. Think my 3.2GHz Q6600 on EP45 UD3P and 8GB will manage fine? I think it should!

Performance reviews of dx 11 cards?
They won't be out till october, so you aren't likely to find any benchmarks yet.

I've put off my purchase of an ATI 4870 x2 till the new cards arrive.
I was the same but went ahead and got it. moving from a single 4850 i was amazed by the performance gain.

Yes, even though the next generation isn't too far off, the 4870X2 is still a beast of a card.

ATI should finalize the development of „RV870“ 40nm DirectX 11 chip at some point in August. This is what our usually well informed sources have confirmed. We are talking about the cards and chips should already be taped out a while ago.
The real launch and mass production should happen in very late Q3, probably in late September, and real availability is expected in October.
From this point, it looks like that ATI might have a month or two head start, as Nvidia's „GT300“ should show its face in very late Q4 2009. All in all, it will be very interesting Q4 but this also denotes that most of July and at least half of August will be rather graphically boring.
