You still get to control other mechs in mech warrior but you do it whilst running about inside your own mech
Very very excited about this one. I am worried about the xbox 360 / pc tie in. It's the way that all games go now due to the money. Somewhere in the interview it was stated they were modelling it as an "action sim not a sim with action". Time will see how telling that is.
I am sad though that they ruled out a coffee-table sized controller, how awesome would that be. If rock band and the Wii fit thing can do it, why not? Have a great big controller stuffed full of buttons, two joysticks (one for legs, one for torso/aim). Row of buttons for weapons etc. Put the controller out for £70-£100 ish (rock band prices). Though they do need to cater for a new generation, there are plenty of older people with jobs that would stump the cash.
edit:- Further thought. Two joysticks and foot pedals. Pedals operate like diggers (ie push one less than the other and you turn). Left joystick to control the torso direction and pitch, right to control the targetting. Buttons on each of them control the left and right banks of weapons. For the smaller mechs you could have jump jets on there. Headset for co-op. Weapons for each side of the mech controlled through a bank of switches assigned to weapon slots. It's a pipe dream but they were talking about immersion, that would do it nicely

I cant wait for this, Been playing mech warrior since the original frist pc game was release.

Reading the articles it seems that it is set before the at the end of the 3rd Succession War. So some 30 years or more before the Clan invasion. Which is sad because I loved the Clan Mechs especially the Mad Cat.

You wont be using a madcat
its Inner Sphere mechs, but reading the interview they will be adding content this is going to be excellent. Like the others have said though, bit worried about the xbox360 tie in

I'm not, it is more likely that it will sell well enough to do more if it is also released on the XBox.
XBox games demand extra content on a regular basis. 'Mechs, missions, loadouts - anything on the XBox would be PC-friendly too. Of course, the downside is how much extra it's all gonna cost. Why can't they just give games away?
