The *Official* Eve Online Thread

:D A week to train for a new ship...most of the skills I now train are 10+days per level lol They just get longer and longer to train the older you get ;)

Recently finished Command Ship lvl 5 this was I think about 28 days and almost finished Surgical Strike Lvl 5, 12 days I think....about 10 other Lvl 5's to do lol

It'll be worth it when you look down your gunnery list and all the generics are at level 5, gives you a warm feeling inside knowing you're maximising damage!

Bit annoyed I did a remap of my character to increase his perception, which was badly needed, but now I'd really like Sentry Interfacing V (on IV at present and now memory is lowest attribute ignoring charisma). Bah!

Just to put a shoutout, are any people here interested in doing some lowsec roaming or gatecamping for fun. Although it would be nice to spank a few people. If so send an ingame mail to Miyahon and I'll see how many people are interested. I won't be fully active until 2 weeks time due to exams so this gives us time to accumulate people.

Mine too, but I'm still rubbish at PvP :D

Which strangely enough, I've always liked - one of the very few games where skill counts more than 'level'.

Im exatcly the same! I've been playing since March 2004. My current main (not the character i've had since march 04) has near 60 mill SP's with a good 40mill in PVP areas yet I'm still poop at PVP :D

Ye I'm still fairly new to PvP, blasters are nice and simple which is my main strongpoint at the moment. Get ontop of the target and unleash hell.

I was hoping to a decent number of responses with regard to lowsecing, would be a good chance for people to get some PvP experience!

March 05...56mil SP ;) about 52mil PvP skills :D very experianced PvP player.

Low sec? That piwat talk ;)

Best PvP is WH or war decs :) you get the best solo/small group PvP, 0.0 is about gangs/fleets.

Ditto :) approaching 70 million SPs and to am poor at PvP, I've always been a support character though, fleet command ships are pretty rubbish for damage, also Logistics I fly don't tend to see much action

Well, the Hulk was supposed to be the ultimate miner with T2 strip miners and crystals, however I had heard that a Myrm with T2 mining lasers and a few mods could do just as well, if not better!

With the proper skills and fitting, a Hulk will outmine any other ship on all roads except mercoxit (use a skiff for that)

Thanks, should I train for a Mining Barge next?
That's going to take about a week alone to train for.

Yes. If youre training for mining, check out Halada's mining guide. Its the miners bible, and will make sure you maximise your yield. A lot of maths in it if you are really serious, but if not will point you in the right direction for skill training

What corps/alliance are people in here? Im in IRC alliance, currently evacing from drone regions due to stupidly thinking driving RA out would be fine and Goons wouldnt notice :(

Man I'm getting bored of grinding my sec status back up, from -9.8 It has taken me several weeks of a few hours a day and 10,000 missiles to get to -5.35 sigh. And that's going from system to system to system finding the highest value BS in each system.

Go to a system and chain the belts, go to the first asteroid belt and take every ship out and leave the last one at armour, then move on to the next, then finally go back round and take everyone out.

How much sec status gain you get is based on the amount of ships in a rolling 10 minute period, not just going to find the biggest battleship and blowing them up one at a time.

Or I'm pretty sure thats the case...

Backing that up, quote from wiki:

Currently, the only way you can get a boost to your security rating is by killing NPC pirates. Doing agent missions do increase your security status as well, but the NPCs you kill have to be regular asteroid belt pirates. With NPC combat, you get one rating increase for the single most difficult pirate you killed over a 15 minute time period.

Ok its 15minutes...

Aye but killing more than one bs in the same system within a 15 minute period is pointless :) if you stay in one system you have to kill a bs, wait 10 - 15 minutes, kill another one, wait 10 - 15 minutes kill another to get the sec increase. You can kill as many BS in 15 minutes as you like, it only takes the highest value BS and works out 1 security gain.

If you kill the highest value BS in one system, then move onto another system the overall timer resets, kill another high value BS, move onto a new system, kill a BS etc. that way I have been able to get 5 or 6 increases in 20 minutes or so.

Also if you re-visit a system within the 10 minutes it appears as though the system timer doesn't reset so you need to figure a loop of system with it taking longer than 10 - 15 minutes to do a round trip to maximise the sec increase.

That's how I do it and seems to be the preffered methodm but it still takes a long time, with my social skill on lvl 4 (the one that increases sec gain with concord I'm getting on average 0.22% increase each bs I kill, with this it is taking me roughly 15 - 20 bs per 1% of sec gain iirc, I might be way off on this, and if I could be bothered I'd do the calculations to find out what the sec increase actually is on 0.22% :)

Either way you need to kill 1 battleship then move to a new system, I don't bother with loot unless it's a named one.

Also that thread seems to be based around ratting for profit :) I'm not doing it for ISK but for sec increase, if I come to a triple 1.1 million BS spawn I'll kill one then move on, when I come round again the last two will be there so I kill another, etc. eventually you can get to a stage where the time you take to do a round trip lets the bs's respawn and so you can go for a fair while not needing to explore the other belts.

That's an hour of doing my method, by doing the 15 minute thing you'd only get 1 sec increase every 15 minutes, which is 4 per hour :) this way allows you to nearly double the sec gain. In the above screenshot I was skipping systems and hiding from time to time as well :) I could potentially get it higher if I had a good run.
