If im after a lot of coolant for my little project what would you recommend as the best thing?

Im going to need about 50litres :/ and distilled water is expensive :/

50 litres? Are you making a bath reservoir mod? You have no option other than to get the cheapest de-ionized you can find, its cheaper than distilled, assuming this is traditional water cooling you are planning.

well the idea was a big reservoir will also aid in cooling, plus the pump has to be submerged

There's no way a pump needs 25l to be submerged, and the reservoir won't make a significant contribution to cooling unless it has a lot of surface area to passively get rid of some heat. Unless you're planning on a huge finned reservoir, all it will do is mean your watercooling loop takes longer to reach maximum temperature (and longer to cool down).

does that work? what about a big silver chain? (not sure the purity but its worth a grand)

i could get away with a smaller res, but the rad takes up a lot of volume also, ill see when its assembled :)

For regular De-ionised Water that can be bought from any good car place, you would still be looking in the reagion of about £175 for 50 litres if u had to pay full retail price.

Your best bet would be to see if you could do a deal as you would be buying in bulk.

Either way its still not gonna be cheap.

well thats if u bought 1 litre bottles from online, was to lazy to check loads of places so went to a random watercooling site, and there stuff is like £3 odd per bottle, so i guess if u can get it cheaper then that it would'nt be to bad, but sill, thats a lot of bottles to be delivered..

£3.70 for 5 litres in halfords - I'm sure the manager would do you a deal.
£8 for 25 litres if your near nottingham from a battery place - just google 25 liters De-ionised

or even make it yourself - but 50 litres is extreme :) - we want photo's

OP, I have to ask the obligatory "why?" here.

DDC pump and res is there so people don't have to resort to huge overcomplicated/overly risky DIY jobs like this anymore.

i like to do silly things, something different - people see a big 1970's v8 and think 'oooh' even though a new civic type r is generally as quick

i fancied something 'non-mainstream' shall we say :)

my Ek supreme LT arrived this afternoon so i should get sorted putting it together tomorrow, going to try it with and without the pressure nozzle and my pump is pretty high flow (upto 5gpm variable)
