Had my SLR for about a week now and have been trying out different things. I found some splashing water and took some snaps, a bit later I noticed little circles on my lens which I assume is dried water, and I don't know how to go about getting rid of it.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of them, and any suggestions to avoid this happening in future (apart from not getting to close to the water)?

You can buy little bottles of alcohol based cleaning liquid and paper based slips for cleaning the lens.

In general this is fine but be warned.

1) some solvents will disolve the special lens coatings.
2) Some papers/clothes are abrasive and can scratch
3) Even Non Abrasive materials can scratch the lens if dirt is on the lens like grains of sand

LensPen is great for finger prints.

But stuborn stuff requires liquid. I bought Eclipse optic cleaner and PEC-PAD'S, and I think they work great.

Just breathe on the lens and then wipe it with a clean lent free cloth i.e. a spectacle cloth. you can get 2 for 99p on the bay.

Don't use any alcohol based substance as that could erode the coating on the lens then you'll be stuck with a permanent mark on your lens!
