Nope. It's just another word.
vagina sounds far worse than the C word. If anything the C word sounds nice. We use it as 'mate'

That IS an Americanism.
People using "po-po" for police. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to hear from a 9 month old baby and a slow, painfull death should be mandatory for this crime.
In contrast, people that say "Sammich" for two slices of bread with a tasty filling should only have to suffer a gentle stab in the eyeball.

I get quite worked up about this as well. My wife tends to leave the room when shampoo adverts come on the TV
