I despise the dual cards technologies personally, I guess I don't run at that resolution though so its not a worry

Erm, nice input .

Gareth knows about crossfire as he's had 2x 2600s before. It's just if the additional 4850 is worth it and it is.

Do you use loads of AA ?
Because if that's the case, the problem that you going through might be the lack of memory more than a raw power.

Remember, xfire isn't going to make your 512card a 1GB one.

Either way, if you're struggling a lot with your settings it's definitely worth it, if it's just a slight bit I would give a go some volt modding and clocking the heck outta single card and see if that helps first :).

as J.D said i know all about crossfire as i used it with 2x 2600 cards.

the main reason why i asked is because i wanna know is it worth it. only that really...

i would think it would be fast but they do run pretty hot better getting 1 card like a 4890. sell yours sharpish put difference to 4890 or 275gtx

It's worth it if you need it ! : ).

If you have rubbish minimum fps on the games you play and need extra performance - I don't see a reason why you wouldn't get another one and xfire 'em.
It's also one of the best possible options for you, as you gain lotta performance for minimal cost and the cards won't get much cheaper really over the next months or a year so you can sell em later if you need something more powerfull with almost no loss.

The main question here is not if it's worth it, but if you need it.

There arent a lot of options, you can sell your 4850 for around 50-60, add an extra 80 and get 4890 but I would say 4850 beats it : ). However it also depends how the games that you play scale with crossfire.

heat isn't really a issue because my case as very good airflow also the right side is off so more heat can be let out. and the left side isn't fully on..
