Behold, My New Jaguar XJ8, in pictures.

Nice looking car, is it fun to drive fast down B roads? Not my type of car really and Id only buy a Jag with the R badge on it. Not much room in the back either considering the length of it.

It was up at £10.5k iirc, not cheap enough. It'd need to be nearer £9k to get me really interested, also, from the pictures, the drivers seat looked a bit more worn than I would like. Looked like some fat person had been getting on and off it a lot. The outer bolster looked quite crushed.

I dunno, it didn't 'feel' right, even from the pictures, you know what I mean.

I still can't believe how much prices have gone up since January - I was looking at a 2003 4.2 sport for £8k with just 80k miles back then.

Hell, I even saw a 2004 XJR with 110k for £9k back then.

Mind you, there's a 110k 2004 3.5 near me for £8k which is good value - and that's a sport premium.

Also, love the wooden steering wheel on yours - interesting wood colour!

I think you'ed be surprised, I was, it's no Lotus, no-one in the right mind would believe it is, but it's surprisingly nimble and it changes direction remarkably well considering it's 1cm short of 5.1m long. The steering is a tad light compared to what I am used to, but it's got a good feel to it and it's weighted enough when you want it to be. So yea, it is fun actually, more so than many people may think.

The interior is one of my favourite features, ever since I first saw this shape jag is 2003 when it launched, I fell in love with the interior. I must admit the touch screen computer system does seem a bit dated now, certainly compared to my Dad's 56 plate 7 series it is, but the wood and leather never gets old, it's just done so very well, spot on really. Classy without being vulgar, comfortable and serene yet still with a touch of Jaguar spottiness to it. The wood colour I have helps make the car feel 'less' stately home than usual I think, you often find this colour wood in the R's.

Incidentally I would love an XJR X350, but, as I said in my other thread, I do have several reasons for not buying one now. In 18 months - 2 years time, I very well may do. I do think this is as I big as will go though, I wouldn't buy a car that was larger than this, this is right on the limit for what is practical with regards to parking and such, and fitting it on my drive.

Such a pretty car, I'd have one in a heartbeat if I didn't need something more practical. I've always wanted one, never been interested in classless boy racer boxes.

It wasn't an almost ...I think he atually did, :p It's not like there wasn't a 26 page thread on here trying to convince him it was a really bad idea or anything

Do love these. Ever since my dad had an old 80's 4.2 sovereign. The shape has never changed, and the interior layout hasn't changed either by the looks of it.

I think some suiting RIMS would make that thing look meaner and leaner but still looks nice! amazing how prices on cars like this have dropped so much as well :O

Very nice indeed, love the interior, if it was supercharged I would be jealous. Just out of interest what sorta MPG figures do you get?

The kind of driving I have done so far, I've touched 18mpg :D ...but trip B which I haven't reset has been recording for over 6k miles apparently and that is on 25.7mpg ...so that's encouraging. All I have done so far is B roads a bit of A road and around the village/town sort of stuff. Haven't been on a motorway with it yet.

I just went out for lunch with my Dad and sister, I did the driving today, typically my Dad uses his 750Li, he liked the Jag though, I'm not sure he believed me when I said I thought it was smoother than his 56 plate lwb 750 (or rather he needed convincing), I think he does now though :)

He has had 4 Jags before anyway, had an 80s Daimler Sovereign, an 80s Jaguar XJ6, a 90s 4.0 V8 Sovereign (the one with the square head-lights) and an early/mid '90s XJ12 ...the last one was a very nice car, but, it suffered all sorts of reliability problems, a lot of them electrical and it absolutely drank fuel like a fish, and I mean really drank, like nothing else, makes an XJR look rather economical.

And thank you all for your nice comments :D ..it's rare that around here a car doesn't come under heavy fire from at least one angle, hehe. Oh I got let out of a side turn and let in on a busy round-about at Merry Hill today, that just does not happen usually. Must be this Jag appreciation that people talk about. Frankly I didn't really belive it, but I noticed that today as it was unusual, time will tell eh.

I begrudgingly like this, the interior is lovely but it doesn't need a bigger V8 and your new signature sucks, can't you afford PS? :D
