My Pet Hate.

My old car picked up a dent in a supermarket car park once. On TOP of the wing - how the hell did that one happen!?

Regarding stupid parking - I stopped at a relatively busy car park last night and a few bays down a new discovery was parked diagonally across 2 spaces, and the back end sticking out. I keep a pen and pad in the car so I drew a little "retard of the year" certificate and left it on his windscreen. It amused me for a little bit :)

I have done that two times now at the local park... when busy and sunny! I feel its shocking when the park is busy and the weather is nice as lots of families come out for the day to see the animals etc :)

Tho i only wrote 'nice considerate parking...' or something to that effect on a BK handkerchief :D lol

I had some fat old skank let her trolley run into the side of my van a few years back, put a nice dent in it. Had a word with her, and all I got was it's only an f'ing van and a torrent of abuse as she wobbled off to Mcdonalds.
I wish I had hung around to see her face when she came back to 4 flat tyres :)
Would have been good if you'd had a schraeder core removal tool with you as well, so even after changing the tyres they cant be pumped back up. I've got one in my toolbox.. not had to use it yet though ;) .

I saw a professionally produced sticky label stuck to someone's windscreen years ago, it read something along the lines of
Next time you park so ****ing close to me, please leave a tin-opener so I can get into my car.
******** like you shouldn't be allowed out of the asylum.
:D

Today, I was out and about and on my way back to the car I saw a very grumpy man who was shouting to another woman that her car had blocked his in. The lady said nowt and moved her car and drove away.

The guy then gets back in his car and reverses out, putting his drivers side into another car that knacked the wing mirror and dented the side.

He clearly stopped, looked at what he had done before trying to drive away.

I put myself in front of the car and yet more grump tirades from him when I challenged him over it.

I politely told him that he had clipped the other car and he had to leave his details. ' Did I ' he asks unconvincingly.

Yes you did and I saw it happen. You have to leave your details because you are at fault.

* grump blah *

He grudgingly wrote a note and left it in the windscreen wiper and I left my mobile no after he left as a witness.

It grates me beyond measure it when people clip cars and drive off and I sympathise with anyone who it happens to.

Anyone here had this done to their cars ?

at least 3 times it has happened to me :(

And yes, its very annoying.

However, the last person that did it came and found me in my workplace and owned up, which i was really appreciative of.

A few months after I got my first car I came out to find one of the wing mirrors hanging off. I was not happy to say the least. I couldn't believe someone would do that and just drive off.

I have only ever hit 1 car when reverse parking really close to it, my wheel arch scraped their plastic bumper (it was one of those mercedes wedge shaped things) and took paint off. I left a note of my mobile number but the guy never called so I spoke to him a few weeks later when I saw him getting out of the car. He said he didn't care about the damage as the car already had a load of scratches.

So the moral of the story is: If you hate it when people dent your nice shiney car, buy a piece of crap.

Ive had it happen and seen it happen. I had only had the Megane a week and some kind person decided that my lovely yellow paintwork could do with a dirty great rubber mark on the N/S corner of the front bumper. I didnt notice it when I left work as I just walked up to the car from the driver side and got in. Pulled in at Shell and was proper ***** off. The rubber marks came off easily but the paintwork has rippled where the bumper deformed and the splitter has a slight crease in it. No note or anything. Saw an old codger in a Rover 600 (what else :D) attempt to swing into a parking space at work, made a right hash of it. He ended up hitting a brand new BMW 1 series. Rear passenger door ruined and front passenger door ruined. He had a good look at what he had done and decided to reverse out and drive off. Managed to hit it AGAIN while doing it damaging the rear bumper  Followed him to where he re parked, took pictures of his cars damage, noted his plate and gave both plates into customer services. Lady who owned the BMW was not supprisingly very angry and the old bloke in the Rover claimed he didnt realise he did it even though he clearly stopped and had a gawp. Week later I was given an envelope with £20 of cinema vouchers and a thanks note. Not all BMW drivers are cocks afterall :D

One night coming back from my grans around December a bus came over a hill and my dad locked up in the snow, slid into the door of a punto that was parked outside the chip shop. Was quite a small dent on his door and on my dads wing(enough so that a tile sucker thing pulled ours out). My dad went in and gave the guy his details etc then a few weeks later he phones up with a quote that was way over the top from his cousins garage miles away from us. I had saw him parked somewhere before so we went and had a look and he had made the damage worse for some reason. He didn't get any money for that.

He probably had a few small scuffs on the panel and wanted to make it bad enough so the panel needed replaced

I came back to my car in a supermarket car park to find a scratch across the top of the bonnet. It didn't look deliberate, so I can only assume some daft bint put her handbag on my bonnet while looking for her keys :(

Friend of mine is forced to park on the main road as her staff car park is too small for everyone and came back one day to find someone had clearly lost control and smashed into her side, crumpling the front wing and taking off the wing mirror. A few days later the same thing happened again, but this time someone had landed in the rear quarter, taking out the light cluster. Both hit and run.

If you're going to park across two spaces then fair enough but for gods sake do it at the far end of the car park where no-one parks anyway.

If you do it right at the front, someone will key your car. I don't agree with keying cars so instead if I'm in the 940 I'll just park right next to you also across two spaces. I wont damage the car or anything but the looks on the owners face when they come out and see a crappy dented Volvo right next to their pride and joy is hilarious.

If I'm in the Cefiro I'll be the one at the far end of the car park taking up two spaces.. Actually no I'll be the one not going into Tesco but instead driving home and swapping into the Volvo before I go to Tesco.

As for hit and run, someone actually did that to the Volvo the other night. I'm parked on the side of the road having finally finished getting it all running sweet again, and some time between 11:30 and 12 midnight some **** in a Mazda hit my mirror hard enough to fold it in and smash the glass, put a bunch of lines down both doors and the annoying part took a chunk of filler (that I didn't even know about) off the wheelarch meaning they'd done some damage I actually needed to fix, though it was amusing when my mate pointed out that it wasn't even filler, it was pink builder's plaster.

I know it was a Mazda that hit me because their plastic mirror cover got smashed off completely and was in bits over the road, one of the bits said Mazda on it.

I'm assuming they didn't stop because they were drunk, given the time and where I live this is a perfectly reasonable assumption.

Next person who hits that arch is going to come off badly. He's filled it using chemical metal.

Would have been good if you'd had a schraeder core removal tool with you as well, so even after changing the tyres they cant be pumped back up. I've got one in my toolbox.. not had to use it yet though .

I've always found a 3.5mm hss bit and the trusty electric driver does nicely straight through the wheel lol

Someone knocked the passenger side wing mirror off my Focus about a week after I bought it, I happened to get up quite early and found the mirror about 20ft down the road so there's no way they didn't know they'd done it.

Managed to bodge it back on but I've been quoted about a ton to get a new one so bodged it has stayed.

Would quite happily have bricked the person's rear window had I seen them do it then drive off.

Ive had my wing mirror smashed off twice now. Both times i was at work and my car was at home parked on the street, no note was left either time.

My neighbour across the road picked the painted plastic cover up and left it on my doorstep so it didn't get crushed by a car. Just cost me £10 from a new mirror luckily.

I was parked outside in the Volvo Tank, just got home from work and listening to something interesting on the news when an MG ZR passed flat out and hit my mirror. I chased him down the road, he pulled into a housing estate to repair his broken mirror, I pulled in behind him and offered him out, he initially completely denied hitting me, then he said he "didn't hear it" despite pulling in less than a mile later to effect temporary repairs!

I think I called him a next Tuesday and drove off in a mass of tyresmoke. Made me feel better anyway :D

The only time a car did a hit and run it was my Mother! She hit my Mondeo outside the house leaving for work, when I saw the damaged and asked her if she did it, she replied yes, but she didn't think she did any damage. No Mum, you only stoved in the indicator, wing and bumper

Someone drove into my octavia vrs, made a little dent in the rear quarter :(

Dad saw it happen (was outside his house) but wasn't quick enough to get any details apart from "big white van".
