Hi,

Unless I am getting confused in my old age a 920 should have a multi of 12-20 with 21 enabled via the turbo option in the bios if selected.

Why then is my Asus P6T6 WS Revolution now letting me select a 21 multiplier in the bios. I recently changed to a beta 501 bios and had not noticed the option before with the 407, I am reluctant to change back until this is verified.

To clarify, select 21 in the bios and you get 21x200 at the desktop or 22x200 at the desktop with turbo enabled.

Anybody else have the WS Revolution who can verify this.

all asus boards have a max multi of 21 if you turn turbo off

but it negates SS normally

just leave the ratio on auto and turbo/ss on

that way the clock is dictated by your BCLK and you save power when your system is idle

how you finding the WS? - its the only x58 board i havent had any time with

Thx,

Seems OK at the moment, changed over from the EVGA X58 SLi so I could run three 295's at full 16x. In comparison to the EVGA it doesn't seem to want to run the BLCK as high so my overclocking is more limited but everything the EVGA did upto 4.0Gig this does with less volts.

I could hit 4.4 with the EVGA to run a Vantage benchmark whereas this board is unlikely to run that high but it spends most of it's time running 24/7 at 4.0gig which I will switch up to 4.2 when I improve my watercooling.

Cheers, Simon.

PS. The multi stays at 21 in the bios even when I enable turbo!

As I understand it, setting the ratio to 21x manually simply makes the CPU stay at 21x permanently instead of only when necessary, and it also disables SpeedStep.

Thus, it is useless. Leave the multiplier on Auto and it'll go to 21x/22x when necessary and you'll save money (and have a cooler room).
