260 sli or 275 sli ?

I have juat came across a 260 (below) for 120quid :D which makes sli just 240 :O

i was just wondering if 275gtx (below) would be worth the 60 quid more in sli ?

any comments welcome :)

I have just ordered one of those Asus 260s to go to SLi with my current card.

I will let you know how performance goes once it arrives on Tuesday.

Or just get one of These and always gives you the option to SLI later on

£240 is much better spent on a single card that going SLI from the start tbh.

true, but when I first got my 260, my PC didn't struggle with games. Now the likes of ArmA2 is around. Getting a second 260 for £120 is an ideal solution to almost double my FPS. True, a 295 would be even better, but that costs considerably more and wouldn't a huge boost over SLi 260s.

Yes but he does not already have a 260, so whats the point in buying 2.?

it would really only be worth it if he already had one and was just adding another,

cause if you have £240 to blow, 1 x GTX285 PWNS 2 x 260 :)

I disagree - in 90% of cases if your getting playable fps with a single 285GTX you will get playable fps with a 260GTX too, if you don't get playable fps with one then your unlikely to get playable fps with the other... whereas 260GTX in SLI in games that support SLI is a big performance boost.

For comparison in Arma 2 - one 260GTX (slightly overclocked) was getting 28fps, a single 285GTX 33fps (stock), 260GTX SLI 54fps.

Tho tbh as the game has horrid mouse lag - your framerate doesn't make much odds - although the SLI setup wasn't going into the sub 25fps zone as much which was a bit less nauseating. low fps + laggy crosshair is nasty.

but if your saying 1x285 beats two 260 sp216 a overclocked 275 is very close not if the same as a 285 so it says in review, so 2x 275 would be a big jump over 260's ?

Aside from in a few games where multi GPU isn't supported or if your really pushing it to the VRAM limit - 260GTX SLI will crush a 285GTX simple as... anyone saying differently has never owned both setups.

With DX11, etc. looming on the horizon I personally don't see the point in paying extra for a small performance margin - 260GTX SLI is cheap, cheerful and gets you deffinatly in the same ballpark and very close to the performance as any of the more expensive setups... and down the line when games push the cards harder... that 20% or so difference in performance is going to be the order of 3-4fps and you'll wonder why you paid an extra £100 for it.

iam very persuaded by the 260 sli and buying a samsung 23 1080p monitor would they cope at tha res with crysis very high ?

Just about - nothing really copes with crysis that well tho...

Settings everything to the highest possible settings in the crysis benchmark tool at 2048x res I get around 55fps IIRC with my 260GTX SLI.

i would vote for the asus gtx260's in sli,but i would go for the TOP versions of thoughs cards slightly better as standerd

Rroff what kinda clocks are you getting with your q660 as u have got the same as me and is your 4gb 4x1 or 2x2 gb ? sorry that its off subject  and i was thinking the top asus 260's but at 15 quid more each i mers well go for the 275 gtx with more oc and more stream processors

3.6gig - but it needs a pencil mod on the board to get above 3gig stable as this board can't provide enough amperage for a 65nm quad normally above 1333 FSB.

Prolly gonna change it to a Q9550 - just to top off this system - tho even at ~3gig the Q6600 powers through everything.

I'm running 2x2Gig OCZ Blade PC2-9200 - works well sweet with this board.

yes but the TOP has more core clock speed 650MHz v 633MHz that the gtx275 has,it also has more Memory Clock 2300MHz v 2268MHz.
