Also no one knows the specs do they or the performance ect

i also gather that 2x 4890s will be faster than 1 single next get dx11 card right ?

People keep telling me that it was the worst time for me to buy 2x 4890s

but there is nothing to back it up

no one really knows when the new cards will come out
and no one really knows the performance of these cards

will the dx11, atis highest end part be faster than 2x 4890s

i dont think this is going to happen imho, im just weighing up the diffrences becuse i still have time to send both my 4890s back for refunds and wait for dx11 but im totaly not sure anymore.

ATI are aiming for the october release of Windows 7. Its a RV 770 firesale atm, the radeon 4730 uses an RV 770 core and full HD 4870 PCB with half the mem chips missing.

As far as I know the first of the new ATI cards will be the budget to mid range cards, followed a few months later by their high end parts. Your 4890 xfire setup should keep you at the top end for quite some time.

They are "said" to come out a little before win 7 release at Oct.

Some say end of aug/early sep. OEM is definitely before win 7 release. Retail card should be on sell at least a week or 2 before win 7 release.

Regarding the power of the first DX11 cards from ATI...no one knows until review and benchmark comes out.

But if you really want something to hold, there was a rumor about 2 weeks back regarding "5850" faster then "4870". Of course, the salesman at ATI continuously boost about the performance of their DX11 cards, since Navida is late on delivery.

It is already the mid of July. If you are not rushing into upgrade or a new build like me, I recommend waiting till September to see how good these DX11 cards will be. If you cant wait, 4890 and 4870 are fairy cheap nowadays at 110 and 150 pounds.

Is it a good bet that the cards will be 40nm and they'll offer something that outperforms a 4890 but with lower power consumption?

ati-forum.de has said that they have a reliable source thats said they will appear Oct 09. This is a bablefish translation

Thus it looks like the fact that the RV870 was finally set now on October 2009, as a safe source passed on us. As usual, the models HD5850, HD5870 as well as HD5870X2 are and in addition a further unknown model at the start. This unknown model will have which specifications, is not well-known yet. The moreover the Strochverbrauchswerte in the Idle enterprise is to have developed very positively. As strongly this development will show up, is however still unknown.

well dx10 was abit of a disaster and dx10 cards weren't really upto it, great for dx9 games but dx10, NO!!.

is dx11 and are the dx11 cards going to be any different?

also are game developers going to use dx11 properly as they didn't really try/bother with dx10.

Depends if nvida gets the dx specs changed to compensate for there cards features again.
