Hi,

I have an abit in9 32x max i have since moved this to a new case with all the same hardware as before.

But now i get an 87 on the bios lcd on the board and it does not post. The system then shuts down.

When i start it again i get the same.

Any ideas?

Did you check that none of the new board standoffs (I assume you did use them?) are shorting on the board? Tried it outside the case to confirm it's not shorting?

yep took the mobo out and put rubber rings on all standoffs and over any not in use.

And all the power connectors are in, the mobo has lights that light up if one is not plugged in.

Tried clearing the CMOS?

Tried removing the battery for a minute or 2 to make sure it's clear?

EDIT - suggest you try a barebones boot if that doesn't work... CPU, 1 stick of RAM, 1 hdd, 1 GFX card and nothing else. If it boots, then plug everything back in, 1 item at a time until you identify the problem part.

looks likes its a new mobo,

took the mobo out and ran with just the psu, code 87 no post.

1 stick of ram the same, gpu the same.

Changed the cpu to the old one and no change.

87 or 8.7. ?
when you moved it did you remove the CPU at all or could you have dislodged the HSF & it & caused some pin damage?

Its 8.7. on the lcd on the mobo. Which says check cpu core voltage.

I even put back in the cpu i used on the mobo since i bought it and i get the same error.

I reset the cmos, removed and replaced the battery and no joy
And no did not touch the cpu during the move.

Could you have somehow scratched the back of the motherboard as you were taking out/putting it in the case? It's really easy to catch it on a riser or part of the case. You may have scratched through a track on the rear of the board.
