So my current Athlon XP 2500+ systems is just a littlebit long in the tooth now at about 5 years old, so I figure it's time for an upgrade.

I've not been paying too much attention to hardware lately but having a quick scout about and with my sometimes limited knowledge I've come up with the following:

specs.jpg

If I'm honest it's a little more than I was wanting to spend but I've already compromised with a slower CPU (I wanted a 2.8 X3) so I don't really see any other room for compramise.

I will be used for a bit of gaming but as I have a 360 most of it will be done on that. Will there be a noticable difference in the 512 and 1024Mb Radeon cards or will it just be better at handling games in the future?

Anyway, any suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Daniel.

Mobo won't fit in case.

512/1024MB matters depending on screen size.

Better go for the Phenom II X3 720 or if just gaming dual-core 550 or even 250 (both fast enough).

Get the faster WD Black series HD ;)

EDIT: Could also change mobo to this which gets good reviews.

I was just testing to see if anyone would notice. :o

Erm.....I doubt I will go above 19".

This is what I chose initially but specced down. I'd rather spend the extra £10 or so an go better than save £10 and have worse, if you know what I mean.

As for the other suggestions, I'll take them on board, thanks. :)

Okay, cool. I used to use the slot loading Pioneer drives and never really had any problems so maybe it would be a better choice, I've no experience with LG drives.
