Sure, they've ordered it but the vaccine hasn't been full developed yet and they won't have enough for even half the population by xmas. Luckily through my job I get priority treatment for me & my dependants
I honestly don't see the point in not accepting it if offered. If the virus does turn into a pandemic or mutates it's worth giving your immune system a bit of a head start.
At the current mortality rate (0.5%)
Liam Donaldson was on TV saying no more than a third of the population would likely get the flu, even worst case scenario.
Whether that assumed mass vaccination though, I don't know.
scaremongering technobable
The mortality rate is less than 0.2% in the UK (17 of 9,000 reported cases, I stress reported as theres no doubt many more that go without notice). Most of the people who have died were already in ill health or had weak immune systems.
The new H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine is going to be made by
Novartis. It will probably be made in PER.C6 cells (human
retina cells) and contain MF59, a potentially debilitating
adjuvant. MF-59 is an oil-based adjuvant primarily composed of
squalene, Tween 80 and Span85.
All oil adjuvants injected into rats were found toxic. All rats
developed an MS-like disease that left them crippled, dragging
their paralyzed hindquarters across their cages.
Squalene caused severe arthritis (3 on scale of 4). Squalene in
humans at 10-20 ppb (parts per billion) lead to severe immune
responses, such as autoimmune arthritis and lupus.

The other thing about getting vaccinated, if this doesn't sound silly: where do you go, the GP's surgery? Wouldn't that put you at more risk of being exposed to people in the waiting room who already had swine flu?
I think I have swine flu now, not 100% sure if I do (its definitely flu anyway). In this case should I need to take the jab?

Massively miss-leading selective quote, that.

No if you have the disease its too late for the jab, go to the doctors and see if you do have swine flu
Hawker
Why not. I have to have the normal flu jab every year and have never had a problem.
The official advise is to not go to your GP if you think you have swine flu now. Stay at home now.
I had a normal flu jab last year at my GP's surgery, it was on a Saturday when no doctors were seeing patients and was run like a well-oiled military machine. As soon as you reported into reception you were ushered into one of many rooms, each with a nurse in it armed with the vaccine. I was in an out in less than 2 minutes. I guess they were practising for this eventuality.
