Will you take the Swine Flu Jab?

my next door neighbour and her 2 children have got swine flu.

so i would take the jab to protect me and my family.

Sure, they've ordered it but the vaccine hasn't been full developed yet and they won't have enough for even half the population by xmas. Luckily through my job I get priority treatment for me & my dependants :D

I honestly don't see the point in not accepting it if offered. If the virus does turn into a pandemic or mutates it's worth giving your immune system a bit of a head start.

Liam Donaldson was on TV saying no more than a third of the population would likely get the flu, even worst case scenario.

Whether that assumed mass vaccination though, I don't know.

At the current mortality rate (0.5%)

The mortality rate is less than 0.2% in the UK (17 of 9,000 reported cases, I stress reported as theres no doubt many more that go without notice). Most of the people who have died were already in ill health or had weak immune systems.

The mass vaccination is the problem. The Health Ministry saying they've ordered enough for the whole population but for a mass vaccination program to be effective you'd need to get through it before the autumn/winter. Something that simply cannot be done.

I'd assume that the 1/3 quoted would be without mass vaccinations.

well seeing as i probably had have it as i type maybe no need :(

missus talking to her friend last week got confirmed as having it then next two days me and our little ones all came down with flu :( just told to keep in doors .

did bother me as my son is just under 1 years old.

The new H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine is going to be made by
Novartis. It will probably be made in PER.C6 cells (human
retina cells) and contain MF59, a potentially debilitating
adjuvant. MF-59 is an oil-based adjuvant primarily composed of
squalene, Tween 80 and Span85.
All oil adjuvants injected into rats were found toxic. All rats
developed an MS-like disease that left them crippled, dragging
their paralyzed hindquarters across their cages.
Squalene caused severe arthritis (3 on scale of 4). Squalene in
humans at 10-20 ppb (parts per billion) lead to severe immune
responses, such as autoimmune arthritis and lupus.

The other thing about getting vaccinated, if this doesn't sound silly: where do you go, the GP's surgery? Wouldn't that put you at more risk of being exposed to people in the waiting room who already had swine flu?

True, but remember that we're behind the curve with swine flu in that it took a while to get here, we only just got our first deaths a few weeks ago. The 0.5% mortality rate I quoted is the worldwide mortality rate, in the USA for example who had an outbreak before us, the mortality rate is 0.7%.

You really think that the NHS would give out a vaccine that would cause such severe side effects, it will cause them more problems than it would solve surely.

Massively miss-leading selective quote, that.

The official advise is to not go to your GP if you think you have swine flu now. Stay at home now.

I had a normal flu jab last year at my GP's surgery, it was on a Saturday when no doctors were seeing patients and was run like a well-oiled military machine. As soon as you reported into reception you were ushered into one of many rooms, each with a nurse in it armed with the vaccine. I was in an out in less than 2 minutes. I guess they were practising for this eventuality.

I think I have swine flu now, not 100% sure if I do (its definitely flu anyway). In this case should I need to take the jab?

Massively miss-leading selective quote, that.

Just to put some perspective on it, the following paragraph is

www.mpwhi.com/the_truth_about_the_flu_shot.pdf said:
Federal health officials will probably reccomend that most Americans get three flu shots this fall: one regular flu shot and two doses of any vaccine made against the new swine flu strain.

Why not. I have to have the normal flu jab every year and have never had a problem.

This, as an asthmatic it would be slightly suicidal not to. It's not as if making a flu vaccine is some arcane difficult thing - they do it every year (each year the vaccine is to protect against different strains).

you shouldn't have been out within 2 minutes, I'm always told to wait 5 minutes in case I have a massive allergic reaction.
