I can't believe all this fuss about flu.... :/ Geeze, I mean if it was a real problem I could understand, but goodness me this is gettind dull and ridiculous. :/
No. They were colds.
Having flu doesn't feel like having a cold, it feels like your entire body hates you.
this is my plan except I'll be watching dawn of the dead.
remember though Britain is the country that considers a heat wave a national emergency.
we love nothing more than a bit of doom and gloom.
And how on earth can you say that with absolute certainty? Only I know what they felt like and I can't compare that to how other people feel, because I don't know how they feel when they get a cold/flu.
And having a bad cold doesn't feel like that then? I've felt weak as a kitten, dizzy, been feverish etc. but you can get those symptoms with a bad cold, or maybe as Gilly says, some people would consider that to be flu. Maybe it IS flu. I see it as impossible to say because colds and flu have much the same symptoms at the end of the day. Just that flu is more severe.

It's probably safe to say you've never has flu then. Man-flu maybe, influenza probably not.
I have, twice, and I would have happily taken death as an alternative at one point.
No need, I dont want to infect anyone else, Im sure Ill recover, its no worse than normal flu, just got a very bad chest in comparison.

chest really hurt which was different to normal flu but that has now passed and almost feel over it.

hollywood, porn and private hospitals. I had my knee ops done, one private(free everything except the room due to doctor being friend of families friends in the business) and one NHS. THe NHS ward sucked with old biddies, though to be fair it was the kids ward, that op was done about 1 week shy of being 16 so had a bed surrounded by tellytubbys on the wall
THe other knee done about 4 weeks later, up on the private ward in a different hospital, jesus, everything was cleaner, painted better, more sleek looking, the nurses were far hotter, food immensely better(yet still crap
) and everything was just so much nicer. Only thing that sucks about hot nurses is a short, paper thin gown and being 16 years old, if I didn't have magazines at the ready it would have been embarassing WHy take a flu vaccine that doesn't last, only stops one version of a virus and maybe saves you from getting one flu, who says you won't end up sicker when you get a different flu in the winter, completely pointless. If it was remotely more deadly than normal flu's, maybe, but its proven not to be, a few deaths in every several thousand people is very low mortality.
ASsuming the vaccine works and isn't just to avoid help avoid panic, its really doesn't save you much trouble.
For those who haven't had the flu, I wouldn't class the flu as a bad cold. A simply not bad cold I would describe as everyone else and wouldn't put anyone in bed, a bad cold would be the same symptoms slightly longer, the tiredness and cough give you trouble sleeping so you feel bad from that too and end up in bad.
The flu would be all the same symptoms but FAR worse, hugely worse aching all over your body all the time. A cold, even a bad cold, doesn't stop you from being able to get around at least a bit, the Flu makes even getting to the bathroom a painful experience, if you can literally not get out of bed, its the flu, if you can easily get out of bed, its a cold would be how I'd describe it.

Good point - I believe there are weaker strains of flu that are not as bad. When I had the flu a few years back I was ill for a couple of weeks. It was the kind of feeling where I could barely get out of bed in the morning for several days. But as you say, it's a bit difficult comparing the two. In general though, I'm rather suspicious when people come on the internet and say "feel a bit ill today, probably just the flu" when it's obviously just a cold.
I've never had a cold that felt anything like having the flu, but yes the symptoms are similar, except with flu it's more severe and comes on a lot quicker (as in you go to bed feeling OK, wake up and it's like being hit around the head with a saucepan).
As for the "it's only flu ffs". Well yes, Swine flu isn't that bad from all accounts and will probably only result in a few more dead than normal seasonal flu. If it had turned out to be more like the spanish flu virus it would have been a different story.

If I can go 35 years without getting it or mistaking it of the cold, then swine flu will have little effect. The darwinia have spoken!

I wouldn't have bothered, but as seemingly fit, young people are now dying of it I would give that matter serious consideration were I to be offered.
