The M5 has a new friend...

I know you'd rather have the 330d back, so I'll be a gentleman and come take the M3 off your hands ;)

Lovely mate, really really lovely, although what happened to convertible?

Specs are:

- Silvergrey paint (CSL colour)
- Facelift 53 plate
- Imola red leather
- SMG II gearbox
- OEM 16:9 Satnav w/TV
- OEM Bluetooth
- Harmon Kardon stereo
- 19" Alloys
- Factory fit AC Schnitzer exhaust
- 56,000 miles
- BMW Auc warranty until March 2010

You missed folding door mirrors it would seem ;)

Was just wondering why BMW never offered the old M5 with SMG? The gearbox was already around in the E36 M3 and now they use SMG boxes in the current M5.

Heh - I guess the Coupe/Cabrio was always an option. My original spec was always:

Must have/be:
Black or Silver Grey paint
16:9 Navigation
SMG gearbox
Red/Orange/Lime green/Cream leather interior
Harmon Kardon

Should have/be:
Sunroof if coupe
Facelift (LED rear lights)
19" alloys
Under 60,000 miles

Can be:
Coupe
Cabrio

I nearly bought a cabrio, but just missed out on it - this Coupe was a better deal in the end, so I guess I got lucky. My idea is to keep the car forever, and I swayed a bit to the idea of a Coupe being that little be less hassle in the long run. That said, I was still impartial and if this car was a cabrio I would have had it anyway.

Haha - didn't know that!

The SMG II box actually uses the same gearbox and clutch as the manual car - the only difference being that a hydraulic unit changes the gears and controls the clutch for you (there is no clutch pedal).

The e46 system is meant to be much improved on the one that came in the e36 M3, so maybe it wasn't quite ready in time for the launch of the e39 M5. Both the e46 M3 and e39 M5 use Getrag gearboxes, so maybe someone has done it.

Absolutely love it. I want one :(

Are the wheels genuine? Just look a bit strange for some reason.

Edit : Prefer the black grill too :)
