Hi all,

Can anyone here recommend good replacement batteries for Canon DSLR?

There are so many available - But I want one which is made by quality brand

Thanks

i use 3rd party batts and no problems here, higher rated too..

dont think these guys are classed as competition.. 7dayshop, whack in the battery number and it'll give you the comparitive item.

I've got a 3rd party battery for my 450D which I got from 7dayshop. Works fine :)
Much, much cheaper than the official Canon ones.

I personally use a Phottix grip that gives me about 1500 shots per charge. For the small ones as mentioned 7dayshop are pretty good.

The official ones are £50 which is absolutely silly money for a 750mah battery, the entire Phottix grip cost me £28 delivered.

If you do a search on a well known website named after a South American river, for Duracell BP511, you'll find that they cost £12.99. They work in the Canon 50D and they're a higher rating 1400 mAh.

They're a direct replacement for Canon BP-511, BP-511A, BP-512 & BP-514 batteries.

Oh nearly forgot, they have a 3 year warranty.

He's got a point if you're looking for 'quality' replacements...why not just buy the originals?

Its because the recommended retail price of a genuine Canon BP511a is around £80.

You can find some 'Canon' branded batteries for far less, but there are an awful lot of fake Canon batteries out there.

Some of the lesser known replacement batteries aren't much cop either, so it can be a bit of a minefield.

SterlingTek.

Uniross' are available too.

Had four SterlingTek for my 40D last year, 3 of 4 are dead with the last one on its last legs.

I have learnt something with batteries. Buy Canon. Original 40D battery is 2.5 years old now and still working perfectly.

Don't waste your money on 3rd party, get quality, get Canon originals.

I ordered a 2nd battery for my 7D (£60) and will be ordering two more along with three more for the 40D.

£300 of batteries! :(
