Will You Buy Windows 7???

ok thanks, sold on the Sammy SSD 64GB @ £91 :p I don't intend to RAID a pair, just run Win7 on the SSD and install all apps/games on the 320GB F1 that Vista "was" on.

Im so conflicted about which version to get, and its just came back in stock for £44.97 for HP! Anyone else buying more than 1 copy to sell at a later date?

Cool. Thanks guys. I thought this was probably the case but just wanted to check.

Presumably it doesn't matter if you order off Microsoft's site or any other the other retailers?

I'm actually excited about this now, who else is excited?

New OS install, new SSD, ICH10R so betters peeds compared to my old ICH9 chipset = Good times all round? :D

A quick question regarding the SSD though, Because it's going to be a 64bit install will I be able to create Program Files and Program Files (x86) on the other HDD then install 64bit apps on that HDD or does 64bit Windows require 64bit apps to be installed on the Widnows drive?

Pass - although you will have space to install at least some of your apps on the SSD, particularly your most used ones / ones which take longest to load.

Ah that's fine I guess.

Because 7's release is 3 months or so away I may even stretch to a 120GB drive as I just learnt that the "actual" total data contents of my Vista C drive is in fact 78.3 GB and that's with STEAM so I'm guessing the 121GB Vista is reporting includes shadow copies, system restore etc.

All is looking great from this angle :D

If I do just get the 64GB one I could install STEAM on the HDD instead and instantly saving over 43GB. In fact I could just dedicate the other HDD just to games because I could then install every STEAM game I have on my account but not installed \m/

Does the Home Premium edition completely lack Remote Desktop connection or does it still allow you to connect but not host?

I'm puzzled as to which version to get. I bought Vista Ultimate 64-bit OEM back in the day, now I don't think I'll want to mess with OEM versions again... maybe!

121GB used now down to 84GB after clearing old system restore files!, the remaining few GB will be hibernation files.

As with previous Windows versions, the non Pro+ versions have client but not server/hosting ability.

You can still connect by Remote assistance though but it does require a party to be at the other end to accept the remote assistance request :p

Quote from BBC news below, killed Vista already? lol

****** said that sales of Windows 7 in the first eight hours it was available outstripped those of Windows Vista's entire 17 week pre-order period.

Just ordered the Home Prem version for £45. Sweet. I just now need a good SSD to replace my raptor bootdrive.
