Will You Buy Windows 7???

nah, Microsoft decided to remove IE8 to annoy the EU, they could have just had firefox and chrome in the 1st startup of windows list and you choose which browsers to install and which to make default.
No way. With a lot of users, that would introduce perceived responsibility of Microsoft for software that they have no control over.

So that would give a choice of IE, FF and Chrome.

What about Opera, Safari, Netscape, SeaMonkey, K-Meleon, Amaya, Maxthon, Flock, Slim Browser, KidRocket, PhaseOut, Crazy, Smart Bro, Shenz, JonDoFox, Avant, xB, Sleipnir, space time, Browse3D, 3B Room, Bitty, Grail, Lynx and Happy?

(List taken from here, may be out of date)

Would be a bit of a silly list to have on startup wouldn't it?

That and the implied support people would assume from the fact Windows had suggested these browsers.

there are atleast 2 places that have are selling pre-orders for £45 or less delivered.
Really? Go check and tell me if you find a single one with stock at £45 (inc VAT) or less...

I think a lot of people are ordering it from a shop that's still taking orders despite not having any stock left.

I can see a couple with it at £45 showing as stock. I haven't checked out to see if it works mind.

I've just now ordered 2 copies for £44.99 each. 3.5% cashback on top too making them £43.41 each, delivered.

I ordered 3 last night at £49.95 and 3 early this morning at £44.99, Had confirmation emails and everything. I debated on getting at least one Pro for my main rig but honestly i would never use those extra features and the 16GB limit does not worry me either. I have one machine with 8GB another with 1.5GB and the rest have 4GB, Can't see me needing more than 16GB before Windows 8 :)

Well done Microsoft at the pricing, will be less people pirating it & more people buying it at those favorable prices I'm all for that.

Going to pre-order mine in a minute, just seeing where it's available - will order the £49.95 version it has everything I need.

I'd hurry quickly as a lot of places are stopping the orders (out of stock which is ironic as it's not been released.. ;)

For those who want to run a virtual machine - why not just use VMWare - if Windows Virtual PC 2007 won't run then certainly VMWare will. I imagine there will be a Windows Virtual PC 2009 or 2010 which will come out eventually.

I don't think there's going to be a stock problem.

MS knew it would sell well, so they wouldn't mention the 3 week window all over the place if people trying after the first few days are to be disappointed.

Im keep watch what people find this W7 when it come out - Im not buy one as Im wait for next stop which I mean I wait for Windows 8 in 2-3 years time - Im in no hurry.

XP released October 2001 -> 5 years
Vista released Jan 2007 -> 2 and half years
Windows 7 due by October 2009
Windows 8 due by 2011/2012 ???

Vista/Windows are partly same core kernel so I dont think I go for W7 as Im stay in Vista... no problem for me since 2007.

I wonder after all is said and done how many they sell at say £45-£49 and how many they sell at the full RRP :D I imagine the ration will be heavily weighted to the cheaper pre-order price.

Everybody's talking about buying extra copies to sell later, so I wouldn't be surprised if the market is flooded with them.

The average person just uses the same operating system until they buy a new computer, which already has the new OS on it.
