Even for £1k I'd want one. Wonder what the range is like on it. And how much to recharge it or whatever. If I could pedal 35/60 miles with the effort of only having to pedal 10/20, then i'd use it to commute to work.

It has a range of 60-80km (37-50 miles) according to them, with a top speed of 50mph.

Am I the only person who thinks its a bad toy? I imagine its rather quiet (watched without sound at work) and the guy isn't wearing anything other then a helmet. Thanks, but you would get scraped bad enough at 20-30mph, let alone 50...

I don't see the point, why pedal. surely peddling will provide next to no recharge.

Seems gimicky to me as a way to keep fit.

until we see some recharge/distant etc. I think an electric bike with no peddling would be just as good and a hell lot cheaper.

Acidhell is right, there is no way in hell that thing works off of actuall pedalling, your not putting enough effort to output enough energy to make it go at that speed....

Arent electic bicycles only permitted to reach a max speed of 15 mph or similar? If so, then it would need to be treated as a motorcycle, as opposed to a bicycle.

Also, his idea of installing lorries with that system - somehow I can't see the typical overweight lorry driver, pedalling anything.

If its price tag could be reduced, that would be fantastic.

I am happy to cycle to and from work, for anything upto 10 miles. Any more than that and I revert to my motorbike.

I can't see it keeping you fit though. 50 times increased power ratio. Unless you are going to do national speed limit speeds or cover huge distances.

Looks to me like some sort of multi-Dynamo system powering an electric motor using gearing, he does not seem to put much effort into pedalling and pedals quite slowly, looks very efficient!

I'd definitely interested in one when they hit mass-produced prices, but that means they look fun, so the Govt. will then ban them
