STS-127 Shuttle Mission to the International Space Station Launches Wednesday 23:03pm

Looks so pretty :)

Love watching these things late at night :)

Orbital burn will be in about 30 minutes or so... should be a good sight if anyone is still awake!

How was it going 12,800mph at 1 stage???

i think that was when it was in space.

The Space Shuttle speed goes from 0 mph to 17,500 mph in 8.5 minutes (this is when the external fuel tank separates from the Shuttle). Two minutes after launch the solid rocket boosters separate; at this time the speed is 3,438 mph and increasing rapidly. While in orbit the Shuttle's speed is 17,500 mph. When reentry or blackout occurs, the Shuttle is traveling at 16,700 mph. After reentry the Shuttle uses Earth's atmosphere to slow down. Landing speed ranges from 213 to 226 mph (343 to 364 kilometers).

Flight Day 2 Plan

• Endeavour Thermal Protection System Survey with Shuttle Robotic Arm/Orbiter Boom Sensor System (OBSS)
• Extravehicular Mobility Unit Checkout
• Centerline Camera Installation
• Orbiter Docking System Ring Extension
• Orbital Maneuvering System Pod Survey
• Rendezvous Tools Checkout

Docking with the ISS will be tomorrow.

Big white boxes mate.

Youtube was down.

Flight Day 3 Plan

• Rendezvous with the International Space Station
• Rendezvous Pitch Manoeuvre Photography of Endeavour’s Thermal Protection System by the Expedition 20 Crew
• Docking to Harmony/Pressurized Mating Adapter-2
• Hatch Opening and Welcoming
• Kopra and Wakata exchange Soyuz seatliners; Kopra joins Expedition 20, Wakata joins the STS-127 crew
• U.S. spacesuit transfer from Endeavour to space station
• Canadarm2 and Kibo robotic arm positioning for Spacewalk 1
• Spacewalk 1 Procedure Review
• Spacewalk 1 Campout by Wolf and Kopra

Docking starts at 18:55 and Hatch Opening is at 20:43, times are BST

~6 minutes to RPM. It's one of the best views you'll get. I won't get to see it live but I've got the recorder armed for the times I won't be about this weekend so I'll have lots to watch. :)

The first spacewalk has been completed and the Japanese Exposed Facility has been installed, this was the top priority for the mission. The spacewalk lasted 5 hours and 32 minutes.

Flight Day 5 Plan

• Focused Inspection of Endeavour’s Thermal Protection System, if required
• Shuttle Robotic Arm grapple of the Integrated Cargo Carrier-Vertical Light Deploy (ICC-VLD) and handoff to Canadarm2 for installation on the Payload Orbital Replacement Unit Accommodation (POA)
• Spacewalk 2 Procedure Review
• Spacewalk 2 Campout by Wolf and Marshburn

Here is one for the ISS fans:

They even have plumbing problems in space, the US toilet pump failed and the loo is being fixed. Crew are using the Russian loo or the one aboard Endeavour. :D

The crews aboard the station and the shuttle are now up and ready to start another days work.

Flight Day 6 Plan

• Spacewalk 2 by Wolf and Marshburn (Transfer of critical station spare components from ICC-VLD to External Stowage Platform-3 and
installation of Japanese Experiment Facility forward camera)

Spacewalk 2 begins at 16:28 BST :)
