Will You Buy Windows 7???

I totally forgot about this :D Thanks!

Home Pro going on my machine, my netbook and sister's laptop then hehe as they are indeed used at different times!

i'm sure you will run into activation issues if you try doing that, MS are not silly

I must have miss read it, I thought it was a bit generous of Microsoft to let us do that, the way I read it at the time it sounded like as long as you are only using one machine at a time and not at once it would not be a problem.

No, IIRC Office can be installed on up to three machines? in the same household (at least I hope it can as that's the case in my house).

Windows isn't the same - one copy means one machine, if you want to put it on another you have to wipe it from the first.

But how does it know it's installed elsewhere?

I jsut got the home.

Surely you can use virtual PC anyway with Home(if you want) and use your old XP disk to create your Xp installation, giving you practically the same thing no?

If not theres plenty of other ways, or even just dual boot.

It doesn't - Microsoft effectively "trust" users to be honest about these things.

There's nothing technically stopping you from installing it on another, phoning up and getting it activated by telling the phone line that you're reinstalling on the same machine.

But...

Being activated is not the same as being licensed

The place I ordered my two copies from for £44.99 are now selling them for £74.97!
Glad I stayed up late on the 15th!

How do you sell out of something that doesn't physically exist? :p

are you serious ? they would have known how many they would sell at this price, Japan 'sold out' they have a quota - ;)

anyway that's not important now, the fact is many on-line stores still have batches left of the 1 wave reduced price, i predict this will not be the case by monday if not before

pre ordered my 2 versions yesterday. got it for £45 and £89

glad i did the prices are starting to rise.
