It is though ridiculous and intensely annoying when people say 'I doubt you have / had flu' just from one line's description of someone's activities that day.

I have neither suggested that you do, or do not have flu, nor have I attempted to diagnose you. I have merely tried to explain to you why other forum members might have responded to you in the way that they did based on the information that you had given them.

For future reference, being aggressive and calling people pathetic really isn't going to help anyone taking you overly seriously - influenza related or not.

I was angry with 1 person (Feek) telling me I didnt have flu, questioning my judgement, then you coming on and then trying to analyse whether or not I had flu. Utterly ridiculous when nothing whatsoever is known about the circumstances, when you dont really know what you are talking about regarding flu (flu effects people in different ways, differing strains, immune systems, relative immune strengths, relative weakness etc etc).

For future reference, if you dont want people to get angry with you, dont patronise them and dont question peoples judgement. Understand, that perhaps you dont know it all. Im tired, Im bored, I feel rubbish and sat at home waiting to get out of this damn house. Dont mess with an injured animal, as they say!

If you suggest that having Flu isn't as bad for some people- and to be fair you did suggest that- you will encounter this scepticism.

We have a thread full of people here who are saying that when they had Flu they could barely move. This is no exaggeration. I think someone earlier said that he wished for death. If the symptoms experienced were to be persistent then +1 tbh :eek: Yes really.

Influenza was worse for me than quite severe food poisoning. I wouldn't wish it on anyone :(
 
Beginning of the year, for about 4-5 days it kinda peaked on one of those days where i had everything and couldnt do much. The worst part i found were the temp swings, freezing my balls off so wrapped up even more, then within a space of 30 seconds my body heated up so much i had to drag myself to the bathroom and chunder whilst cooling off in the breeze from the window :(

Of course everyone does, I probably did as a child, however I can categorically state that in my whole adult life I have never had so much as a more than a sniffle for 24hrs. I've never been ill in my life - I don't really care if you call me a liar, but if you do you're a brave man.

24hour sniffle will do me for a cold, I dont get more than that.

Fair enough - then I guess it's the definition of what an ailment is. Flu is very much incapacitating as I've had to look after friends/family with flu. A cold shouldn't stop you doing your day to day life IMO.

I think people tend to take a sick day far too easily and quickly these days.
