As title, I'm going to be setting up a twin monitor setup very shortly using an E4300 @ 3.0ghz, 2gb pc6400, and an overclocked 4870 512mb. What sort of performace hit should I be expecting when compared with just the one screen. Resolution will be 1680 x 1050, little or no AA, x4 or x8 AF?;)
Cheers

So you'll be spanning the games across both screens? Won't that annoy you having the plastic trim right down the middle?

Thought about that shortly after posting here:p. Its either 2 x 22" screens or a 1024 x 768 projector, but the cost of the bulbs put me off if a failure occurs. Also I don't know what the quality will be like at at that low res. Any ideas?

If I didn't have to fork out for the 22" screens, I would:p I can get the projector for nowt. Suppose I'll give it a go and see what it looks like.

a 124x768 projector isnt going to be the best in the world. id personally go for the monitors if image quality is important to you, and id actually choose 1x 24" over 2x 22's

Ditto. I have a 24" Samsung 245BW and its great. I run an old 19" 4:3 to the left and use it for task manager, MSN windows, Ventrillo etc. No good to extend for games though.

The thing is this setup is gonna be uesd by at least 3-4 cadets at a time I'd think and I don't think they're gonna be too concerned about image quality that much, rather bigger is better. The guy who has the projector says it 720p but I'll reserve that until I see for meself. Also the setup is to be used for tuition purposes, classroon sessions, powerpoint presentations, etc so a big image on the wall will be a far better idea than a 24" monitor, thats what I reckon anyway.

Okies got the projector set up and for the purposes its designed for, its fine. Only runs at 1024 x 768 and no hdmi, just DVI and VGA although I wasn't expecting hdmi. Got a 3ft by 2ft image on me wall so far but I can only just see as its setup in a VERY bright room, can only see an image when the sun goes in:p.
I'll see how it goes this evening in the cadet's main hall where its gonna be darker. As a sidenote, a 4870 512mb goes like the clappers at 1024 x 768
