Now, i am not talking about people who need to lose weight due to health issues, and proper issues such as this.

I am talking about people who actually go to the gym to "tone up" and "body build", before going they were normal people, perfectly healthy (to an extent which meant that they were able to live their life without hindrance etc).

I don't get it. I have a beer belly, and am now on the higher end of BMI "normal/healthy" range, and i don't care one little bit. Neither do my friends, neither do women, so who actually does? I eat whatever i want when i want, i don't bother with the gym (almost see it as working without pay tbh), i don't bother exercising beyond a normal "active" lifestyle and although not toned i am a normal regular looking "bloke".

I see so many people obsessed with the gym and stuff

:/

I was overweight, and looked it. So I joined a gym about a year ago.

Im still a little overweight, and going to the gym still, but I look much better, I feel better than ever and Im stronger than I used to be.

Lots of reasons, could be a hobby, good way of keeping fitter; healthy body healthy mind and all that, vanity, low self esteem are others as well.

I don't get it one bit, I've put on a stone and a half over the last 18 months but I couldn't give a rats ass.

Would post further but there's a cadburys caramel in the fridge that needs sorting out.

Maybe because people enjoy going..?

Quite a narrow view you got there imo.. i go the gym and i really enjoy it.. i can unwind after a day at work, clear my head, and get healthier at the same time.. whats not good about that?

Lots of reasons.

Health
Looks
Some people simply enjoy it, the feeling you only get after hard exercise is addictive to some.
Stress relief

Loads of reasons.

I'm not a gym nut but I like to stay trim. Cycling is my crack.

I think now the main reasons I still do it is that I notice I have more energy, sleep better and have more confidence.

Many reasons I'd guess. Some enjoy it, want/need extra strength, gives more confidence, generally feel better etc.

'cos i dont get it. Surely sitting in your garden with a cold beer is better than being sweaty with other men lifting lumps of metal up and down for free like a criminal for hours?

Vanity. I want to look better and be healither. I still enjoy a cold beer in the garden more, but the end result will also be good for me.
