Computer died the other month and it seemed like just the PSU.

Waited all this time for some spare cash, bought a PSU, plugged it in and nothing!!!

So I guess the mobo was fried as well??!??

Gutted, not only that its still dead, but I had it all overclocked and running really stable.

Dunno what to do now, buy another mobo (my one is no longer available) or splash out on a new i7 and mobo/ram.

What ever it is, im gonna have to save again :(

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit - 4 STICKS
Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler
Corsair HX 620W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply - NOW REPLACED WITH A 600W PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz - CLOCKED TO 3.4GHz

As for budget, I could probably afford a new mobo for my setup now, which one could I get? or in a few months could have a few hunderd £

Thanks for listing above :)

Silly question what happened to your old psu, I assume it went pop, reason I am asking Corsair are good PSU and I am surrprised it has taken your setup :(

For a new board have a look at these:

Gigabyte EP45-DS3P - Used this in my spare pc, got this spare at the moment as I have upgraded to I7.
Gigabyte X48-DS5, or have a look at the p43 range if the 2 above are a bit high in the price bracket, these will allow the latest quad and dual cpu's to be used if you fancy an upgrade later.

How about this ones, its cheap/reduced? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-136-GI&tool=3

Yea, was happily playing a game and PC just died. Took out the house ring. Blew the fuse in the plug and fuse in the PSU. Changed that, but it just blew straight away again. Being a Corsair, I was hoping that the rest of the system was fine, but looks like the oposite.

Thanks for the fast replies :D

Went big time :(

I believe the board is pretty good, only difference is the pci-e slots are 1.1 and not 2.0 but I think the performance difference in minimal.

DOH!!!!!

I thought, im gonna have one more look. But everything was fine. But then I heard something, a buzz from the kettle plug into the PSU. I wiggled it and push it in really hard and the PC turned on. I let go and it died. STupid not very good fitting plug, thats all it was. And this was the one that came with it!!!!

Put my old one in, with new fuse, and it fitted nicely and it powers up fine!! yay!!!!! :D

ou tof interest, why did you save up and buy a new pc, rather than just trying to RMA the corsair one in the first place, don t they have a 5 year warrenty or something?

The silly mistakes are the best :D

Could you not RMA the PSU under warranty?

Well, its about 4 years old or so. But I took it apart to change the fuse, thus voiding the warranty.

Yup, all up and running, sweeeet :D
