How bad is this?

Can't really comprehend why he did it, don't understand how girlfriend + cancer = turn to child porn.

Unless he's not wired correctly in the first place, in which case it's the usual cop out due to mental health.

Quite poor really. You just linked to the article, gave no summary of it's contents or even an idea as to what you're talking about.

I give you a D- Must try harder.

The article says he pled guilty of making child porn..surely that means he abused a child then? or did he whip something up on PS?

Quite vague on the dudes excuses as well...very odd.

'sorry your honour, I robbed a bank today because my dog had a headache'

that makes more sense than the story..

No, it's a strange way the law works, downloading images qualifies as making them.

Every so slightly OT and certainly not wishing for people to think I'm gonna do this, but is it true that you can actually download 2 images for the basis of research? Or is that a myth?

If you download/print an image you are making an electronic copy.

However, I'm not sure where the law exists on accessing images without downloading or printing them.

EDIT - actually, looking at sentencing guidelines it seems the judge followed the law exactly.

Myth, there is an exception for criminal proceedings and investigations, not a blanket one for any research.
