What does the pro version offer over the home version?
I just game and surf the net on my PC. with the odd bit of dvd encoding.

The only reason I can see is if someone with a pre-built PC or notebook wants to use 7 but doesn't have full driver support form the manufacturer for 64-bit versions. I'm getting 64-bit for my own PC, but I'll be putting 32-bit on my step-dad's XPS One for that reason.

yes it will work fine.
I had 2Gb for ages and only upgraded to 4Gb a few months back.

Just preordered Win7 Home. Quick question though. Will the 64bit version run ok for a gaming machine on 2gb RAM? I will upgrade to 4gb if i have to, but i'd rather save my money.
Win7 isn't as much of a resource hog as Vista right?

Shouldn't be a problem, although if you're playing newer games you'll benefit from having 4GB of RAM anyway so it's certainly worth considering.
no need? lots of codecs out thee and you get full use of your computer.
I just don't get your reasoning. No you might not notice anything substantial But you lose nothing and gain a "lot under the hood"
Hardware acceleration.

Most netbooks now have x64 cpus.
Why are you still thrashing on about this? You appear to have a need to have the last word. Just put it to bed now...
