Hi guys just wondering if this would be okay to clean a cpu/heatsink with this.
Or should I go with 99% alcohol, the castor oil scares me a little.

Its ingredients are:

Castor Oil - 2.5%
Methyl Salicylate 0.5%
Diethyl Phthalate 2.0%
Industrial Methylated Spirit. 95%.

try to get ALCOHOL without any oil in it.............if possible

yeah i use that, the arctic clean:

thermal material remover (lemon one :p)
thermal surface purifier

someone gave me it when i bought a cpu and swore buy it cleaning powers

it does work but im sure there are plenty of alternatives

It cost 5.50, im sure if you hunt about a bit you can get it much cheaper. Doesnt smell
too good though.

I got 500ml of isopropynol from that wel known auction site, £2.80!
Not as strong as the industrial stuff i use at work (which melts plastic!)

But a very good cleaner.

akasa TIM removal lemon stuff ***. 2 bottle free from Iseries Lans, actually nearly managed to use one up....nearly 2 years later.

Used Isopropyl alcohol, now only see 2 cores out of 4, maybe I should have used some
nice smelling nail varnish instead, LOL.

But seriously this problem is annoying, can live with it for now tho.

you did let it dry off afterwards right? and also you didnt happen to get any dust or scratches or lint (if you didnt use a lint free cloth) on the underside of the cpu did you?>

And it definitely left crap on the surface of the processor.

Meths would work, but also leave residue. To be fair just scraping it off with a stick will work, just not as well as doing it with isopropyl

yes, you have to wipe the processor dry, plus the cooler; i didn't let mine air dry.... because i realised that Nail varnish remover wasn't perfect, but it's all i could get hold of.

i'm happy to use it all the time... no worries, just as long as you wipe it totally dry
