Would you get into the UK?

Because it doesn't teach you any actual laws? Why do I care how many 16 year olds there are or when when women were allowed to get divorced? They can now and that is all that matters.
Well obviously those two specific questions aren't about current law, they'd be about the makeup and the history of the country.

Out of curiosity, which way would you be arguing if this was one of the many threads moaning about foreigners coming to the UK and not wanting to integrate?

Ulster Scots as a lanuage spoken in N Ireland true or false? Are they for real? I mean come on, not knowing the answer to that should have no meaning on an enter test. That question a side its as if the only thing going on in the questions. Is that the questions have been picked by people that have never done anything outside of westminster.

You think it should be general knowledge what the largest immigrant groups were in 1980? Which year women gained the right to divorce? The number of people 19 or under in the UK? etc..

People do not come by this information in day to day life.
Well I have, I've not actively gone looking for any of it but I still knew it. I can't believe the ignorance in this thread.

knowing what percentage of the population is muslim isn't integrating, because quite clearly the general public don't know either.

a better idea would be a short, concise history of the UK in the last 100 years, a simple (SAT (year 6)) English exam and the ultimatum of getting a job in 6 months or having to leave the country.

Ah well.

I've got one equally as pointless. What % of the UK population is ginger?

a. 3.5%
b. 5.7%
c. 6.2%
d. too many

Again, it's one question, if the test was only made up of these questions then it would be a bit pointless. Knowing how the UK is made up is useful information though, and to test that you've learned everything they wanted you to, that question is fine.

Maybe so, but that's not what's being discussed ;)

Send them back. I lived in UK for 13 years now. I don't go around proclaming that because I am technically an immigrant people should cater to my religion or I will blow them up. Its retarded. You go to the country, you live by their rules.

This government is just too much of a pushover.

why, pray tell, is it useful information? it may only be one question, but i'm using it as an example of the pointlessness as a whole, a concept you don't seem to be grasping. if these are an example of the questions in the real quiz i can only assume that those are just a pointless and arbitrary.

Maybe so, but that's not what's being discussed ;)

this is an open ended thread regarding the quiz that you need to take to enter the country, thus it's perfectly valid to posit alternate ideas. it is with in the bounds of the conversation.

Seems about average...

So, so far, only 1 of us on this forum has passed the test without looking at Google.

This "test" doesn't appear to ascertain suitability for citizenship in any way, shape or form.
