Cleaning CPU - Surgical Spirit

it isnt going to break it etc, its the fact it leaves particles etc in the microscopic imperfections on the cpu/heat sink, which means that the TIM wont be able to fill those holes, thus decreasing its maximum performance.

TBH unless you care a huge amount about single degrees etc its not going to matter, and if you care that much youd be lapping your cpu/HS anyway.

Isopropyl is better because of the fact that it will completly evapourate thus leaving 0 residue so you can achieve very slightly better temps. But mis applying the TIM will probably affect it the same.

You mean you don't care that much about single degrees? I'll put quite a lot of effort into taking a degree extra off
 
You guys are all crazy. Use the stuff thats designed to clean these things :)
