Rite, I want to drive my car over to cyprus. Long story but im a tradesman and ill be taking all my equipment over. ive kinda got as far as driving from leeds to dover, go on a ferry then drive to either italy or turkey, obviously staying a few places on the way.

but then I need help getting over from either italy or turkey to the south of cyprus, ive been looking on the net and loads of confusing stuff.

Anyone done it? costings etc? or would i best send in cargo, i would like the drive though and travel a bit through europe.

also with regards the car, what would I need, im insured driving abroad but then what if i left my car in cyprus is there any import tax? custom charges etc?

any help would be great. thanks

This sounds like a load of hassle, however, there must be boats from turkey to cyprus capable of carrying your car over, you shouldnt pay any charges, they are in the Euro zone surely.

there's boats from turkey to northen cyprus. just didnt know if could cross between north(turk occupied eu zone)>south (greek occupied eu zone) easily, as those two dont get on and different rules.

To cross from Greek to Turkish side you have to pay the Turks for basic 3rd party insurance. You can buy it per week/month/quarter so it's not a "per visit" thing. You have to display your licence/passport/stamped insurance thing each time you cross, doesn't normally take too long unless there is a big queue.

Yes you can, there is no problem, like lopez says above.

I'm sure sending a car over to Cyprus in a container is only around £1-2k... how much are you paying in fuel etc? :o

I would not send a dead dog in a container, never mind a car.
I'm biased as I know a few container related horror stories! :D
