Anyone do this? I've been thinking of starting and from the few videos I have seen from the Krav Maga Scotland website it looks pretty intense.

From what I have seen its 45 a month for a session a week (so 4x a month) or 55 a month for unlimited sessions, which seems reasonable enough - same price as a gym membership.

Edit: This should be in sports, I was sure I posted it there but obviously not....

It is an exceedingly useful and deadly form of self-defence. I believe it originates within the Israeli military. Have a look on YouTube, loads of great videos.

It's very practical and teaches you how to defend yourself when sat down on a bus for example.

Yeah I've been watching a few videos on their website aswell. Will just need to try to find someone up here to go with. They are offering a free lesson so should be "fun"* to check out.

* I dont mean fun in a ha ha way more like a good learning experience. I will probably get my *** kicked even though I did 7 years of karate.

£45 a month for 4 sessions seems very expensive. I pay £24 for 12 sessions a month of Aikido (24hrs).

Anyhow, Krav maga - efficient, violent, good.

There's a place does it in Dundee... I was looking up my way but that was the closest I could find. Bound to be somewhere down your way, maybe over the Glesga side?

Not sure what other stuff you get. I think you get the uniform, access to other random events and stuff too.

*can a mod move this to sports please? Thanks. I stuck it in motors originally lolwtf?*

Theres a place in Edinburgh. I meant someone else to go with as in attend. Need to slap some friends.

My friend from London does this and he's really enjoying it. It's extremely brutal, he used to come into work with bruises/cuts across his body!

Think I'm going to take this up now... I really could do with learning some of this.

I was initially put off by Karate and Judo and such as they seemed very rehearsed and they require your opponent to be in a situational position. They didn't seem very applicable to real life, and I like the Krav Maga attitude of carrying out lethal counter-attacks to maximise your chances of survival.

Will be looking into it!

I think this is the normal site:

This is the one I been looking at:

What a load of cheorographed (sp) nonsense.

Tried krav maga for 3 weeks. Any self defense course which has the attacker doing one move and then standing still whilst you then perform a 12 hit combo is nonsense.

Learn boxing/thai boxing/BJJ .

Just my personal opinion.

Boxing not interested too many chav scum do it. But it would be fun knocking the **** while paying for it.
Thai boxing not really been a fan either.
Bjj looks impressive but still more interested in KM

totally disagree with you there. To learn you need to have the attacker make an attack and then have time to work out your counter attack..

as you get more advanced, the attacker would not just stand still , its all a matter of building a foundation first and building on it

3 weeks isnt anywhere near enough to make a proper judgement.
