think it should, the pc's at my local gaming centre they use core 2 duo overclocked, dont know specs, 2 gigs of ram and either a 9800gtx or a 260gtx. they use 1920x1200 aswell, so i think your good to go. they also run crysis on high at 1920x1200

i game hard aswell, usualy all day every day :P unless its the weekends i drink hard xD.
but my weak system does me for what i do, css and cod 4 on a 1440x900 screen :P

is a 4890 much better?

would a 4870x2 be overkill ?

It's better, yes. With most people on these forums, one finds that there's no such thing as overkill :p

However, the performance increase -is- marginal, so i'd only change to a 4890 if you're really not satisfied with what you get on your 4870, which should be very respectable as it is.

just got the itch to upgrade.

got a samsung T240 coming monday got it for £130 delivered its a refurb but has 12 months warranty. and looks like new.

Just had a look at prices and in retrospect i'm inclined to agree, if you've got that itch :D.

Just curious, are you running 2x1.5GB RAM modules?

the monitor dont have speakers ? i use headphones is there a cheap way to get sound to my headphones from my pc ?

PC Graphics card -> DVI -> Monitor

PC Motherboard -> Headphones
:)

EDIT: That being said, there's nothing stopping you from running an HDMI cable, as you still choose where the sound's going..

realtek hd audio says my headphone input is on the front panel but theres no connection

for dual-channel technology to work you need to have an even number of memory modules on your system (assuming that your AMD CPU or Intel chipset support this technology, of course). If you install just one module this technique won’t work because memory will still be accessed 64 bits per cycle. In other words, dual channel works by accessing two memory modules in parallel, i.e. at the same time. Because the two modules are accessed at the same time, they must be identical (same capacity, same timings and same clock rate). In order to enable dual channel technology you need to have:

Compatible chipset and motherboard (Intel CPU) or compatible CPU (AMD).
Two or four identical memory modules, compatible with the technology supported by the motherboard (DDR-SDRAM, DDR2-SDRAM or DDR3-SDRAM).

Taken from here I've highlighted the important bits ;)
