I was talking to a friend who was complaining about doctors being over paid and I was wondering if this is the general feeling.

After finishing 5/6 years of medical school this is what a doctor will make:
F1 (first year) Doctor £21,862 (excusing any supplements for unsociable hours)

F2 (second year) Doctor £25 000 to £30 000 (excusing any supplements for unsociable hours)

After the first 2 years a doctor can expect to earn 30 to 50k until when reaching consultant level the pay jumps to 70 to 100k.

A salaried GP will make 50 to 70k and a Partner running his own practice can make anything from 70 to 150k depending on the size of his practice and the quality of care given.

This is a little old but still a good read:

They have to know a lot about 'making people better' including drugs, treatments, the biology side of things etc. Plus they save lifes. So no, i don't think they are overpaid.

Nope. Huge expensive qualifications. Risks, potential work hours. I think there pay is totally deserved.

Just silly jealous people out there.

idk, they may not seem to do much, but there's a lot of information to take in, remember and dish out correctly possibly with people's lives in your hands.

I agree on footballers though.

Absolutely not.
They have to work hard through school to get AAA or AAB to get into a good med school. Then the years of study: out of all the students they have the longest hours and most responsibilities. What about the cost they incur to even get to being a doctor? Enormous to say the least.

I think Doctors and Nurses should be paid a lot more. They deserve it.

What about other people that work hard at A Levels and do three years of a normal degree (i.e me in this instance)? Do we not deserve it?

Or me for that matter? I did a 'normal degree' of four years but I don't decree that I should earn x amount or that I and others in my position deserve less.

I am saying that I believe that Doctors deserve a better wage. After all they are saving lives aren't they. Putting a price on life is quite sickening.
