Hmm...

Sky Unlimited (16MB down/1.3MB up) seems like my only well known LLU option. How are they as an ISP?

They're fine, but you'll need a package with Sky TV to get it. Alternatively go through UKOnline, the consumer arm of Easynet, the ISP Sky own and use to provide their broadband service.

Are you sure you haven't got the option of Be*? Have you used their websites checker?

I will also say, avoid Tiscali! They gave me an upgrade on my line and the speed went down.

Is the service not unlimited when not using a LLU connection
That's right, Sky Unlimited is the only unlimited broadband service they offer, and it's only available on exchanges they've unbundled.

and are you saying I will only get a non-LLU connection if I don't buy a sky TV package?
No, you can get the same services via UKOnline, they just charge more and make you buy a Netgear DG834GT. But then compared to your other options they may still be good value. Your exchange info shows it's been enabled for Wholesale Broadband Connect, which means ADSL2+ services via BT Wholesale from ISPs who've chosen to offer them, but there you've got a choice of usage allowances instead of an unlimited service.

The only way you're going to get decent services cheaper is via Be/O2, which isn't available, or potentially cable, which SamKnows says is available in the area?

I'm happy to go with Sky unlimited if it means that it will be on the LLU service, all I need to know is will this happen with this offer:

http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/broadband/pricesandoptions/max
Sky Unlimited Broadband, up to 20Mb + Sky Talk Line Rental + Freetime
£20 a month, no setup fee, no limits, including line rental

Edit: Ah I see, I have to have the TV package when buying sky broadband :(

Is there any reason not to go with Tiscali? I'm assuming that I can get LLU as they own Bulldog who have LLU in my area.

Yeah, unfortunately it's £37 as we have to have TV too. Our letting agents also report a poor sky signal in the area :(

Yeah it probably has a badly designed/installed communal dish and the letting agent is making excuses. Nothing to do with the area.

I'd probably pay for the service if I could get it, but there's no chance I'll pay that much if I can't get decent SKy TV signal. What happens if they install it and then there's a poor signal? I understand I can cancel it all via the 14 day cooling off period but ideally I'd just drop the Sky TV.

It's up to the letting agent/building management to get it sorted. If it's impossible to receive Sky from that particular building due to taller buildings blocking the signal then it shouldn't have been installed in the first place.

Probably best off borrowing a Sky box for the day to test it before you order.
