Do you ever spoil games for yourself?

I sometimes try to be perfectionist in some of my games. This has often lead me to hate some games. Like constantly doing a level, quest or mission in a certain time or without making any mistakes. In the past I've done this so many times I just get sick to death of a game instead of just enjoying it.

I'm my own worse enemy. I think putting achievement in the multiplayer side of 360 games can spoil the fun too. Instead of just enjoying the experience it just leads to anger and frustration. As I try and obtain the achievements instead of just playing the game as it was intended. Multiplayer is hard enough when you up against a good player never mind when you have to get thousands of headshots.

Multiplayer achievements mean moot to me. A lot of people just use friends etc to boost so they can get it easy instead of the way it was intended

Multiplayer achievements (except coop) should be scrapped, they just mess up online games.

I completely agree. I spent most of my time on Halo 3 MP just going for achievements rather than just playing the game.

Yup, bad idea. Glad I don't give a monkey's about achievements.

Well, not much anyways.

I can never decide if hidden items and jumps in GTAs are good or bad. You would never find many by chance and it makes for a tedious game trying to find them. Also if you resort to an online guide to find them, you have made a very mundane side-game for yourself.

I tend to do that with JRPG's where I buy the official guidebook and make sure I do not miss out on anything that could be important like a powerful weapon or item, extra story stuff etc. Hell I even go as far as to talk to EVERY single NPC in a game, even double chatting to them incase they may say something new or give hints to the quest/story.

And as for achievements, some I care about, but like mentioned here, the Multiplayer ones can be a right pain in the arse to do and so I do not bother with them.

I agree that mp achievements should be scrapped for a different reason - if you pick up an older game that no-one plays on-line anymore its impossible to get 1000/1000.

But some games are great for online call of duty world at war . Some of my friends have gotten 1000k. Where as i just gave up with it as i prefured COD4

& i ushally find myself trying to get all achievments as they are there to be had .. + more bragging rights :P atm trying to get them all for Prototype ofc s not an online thing , but nothing more enjoyable trying to kill 43k of infected to gain 30g or whatever :)

L4D a small group of 8v8 etc frinds can easy gain loads of rewards

And i do admit , more on the pc i cheat a lot!! where as on the 360 i'm made to play the game ofc there are cheats for the 360 but not that many where i can use a trainer etc. But i do use an odd walkthrough on occasion

I've never really seen the appeal of achievements to be honest... When I get one I think "oh yay, another achievement" but I never go out of my way to get them.

Achievements extend a games life for me. I've finished Fallout 3, But now I'm going through it again to try and do all the sidequests that give out achievements. I wouldnt do so if I didnt get the achievements.

I'm also replaying Mass Effect, Love the game, But still have several outstanding achievements on that which I'd like to get this play through.

I'm also just missing 2 achievements on Sonic 1, Under 40mins and Perfect Game

And I still don't have all the achievements in Dead Rising, and I really want them :(

Ive never been on to go for achievements.
Why do i need an achievement to say im good in MP, if your that bothered just look at the achievement that was given to me when i finished single player on hardcore.
My gamer score is pretty small, but my list of games is big, and ive enjoyed em all lol.
What does spoil games for me are games where some of the things expected of you are just straight up ret'rded, and they are just a mission, so you get stuck at a set point in the game and cant progress, e.g. skate 2, pumping has the worst controls ever, full stop, and your expected to clear two bowls with only pumping! WTF! lol.

I just tend to ignore MP achievements.

I have found that playing some games as co-op the first time round has spoiled it a lot though.

Resi 5 in particular I think I'd have got more out of going along alone first, then going back for co-op, too many arguments caused by whose tactics for a boss were better and stuff. :p
