Advice need on tyres

I don't see what the problem is? And why am I trolling because I buy second hand or I'm going against the consensus?

If there is ample thread on it and it passes MOT then second hand is fine. Surprising what you can get for the money - I guess its everyone wanting new tyres/garages advising people to replace perfectly drivable tyres leaving a good range available for the second hand market. Please do carry on buying them new tyres.

I have a 10 year old Astra mk4 with driving mainly around inner city London, less than 10k a year in miles with hardly any motorway miles. It perfectly fine & over 2 years of driving the car, touch would I haven’t rear ended anybody. Of course I will revaluate if my driving requirement changes.

You're right; I do have new brake pads & shoes. People only replace them once they've completely worn out so I wouldn't buy them second hand. Tyres on the other hand, well this thread is a prime example. False economy would be for me to buy new tyres for this car when second hand has given me more than a year on the road with no MOT problems.

I think the problem people have with 2nd hand tyres is not knowing the history, ie, invisible wall damage or bad repairs in a previous life.

However if your happy, then your happy, you pays ya money and makes your choice.
