Spec me an FPS

Just finished HL2 and Episodes 1&2. Which current games are similar? Must be first person perspective. I like WW2 type games as well as futuristic.

It's ok, very generic and not as atmospheric as Doom 3.

I would recommend FEAR though.

I love a good FPS - Unreal Tournament started it off for me. Have a look at Bioshock if you want something atmospheric.

Yes Quake 4 is a pretty solid game. Good 1 player story. Not sure about multiplayer. Can probably find it for a bargain price.

Ah yes I forgot about Farcry. There's also Crysis, which is not too bad.

And Bioshock is pretty good as suggested above

Far Cry is simply the best in terms of open maps and replayablity, have played it around 6/7 times, every time going around each map/mission in a different manner. It has never been beaten imo

Is the PC version of Farcry different than the xbox? I hated it, the hit box seemed dodgy and - meh I don't know I cant remember got it when it first came out sold the next day.

Go check farcry out, will cost next to nothing and will look pretty good even in comparison with the game standards of now. Fear is simply excellent imo, the most atmospheric fps I have ever played, great story line. Quake 4 I also enjoyed, thought it was a case of swings and roundabouts, some parts of it were better then Doom3, some not.

Completely different game. The console versions are total crap. Whereas FarCry on PC was and probably still is the best FPS i've played.

Yup, console versions of Far Cry are completely different. When it first came out I was raving about it to my friends, who all had consoles. They went and got it, almost ripped me a new one cos it was such a dire game on consoles.

I'm pretty sure there are some patches to update the graphics, not that it really needs it, still looks wonderful to this day, such a shame about FC2

Counterstrike Source, FEAR, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Left 4 Dead are what I'd recommend.

Also, though 3rd person shooter, Battlefield Heroes is a good laugh and is free.
