my girlfriends medion 6379 has a water damaged keyboard, i have had the keyboard off and got the part number mp-03266gb-442a however it only comes up with 1 online store that sells it at £51 and then they want £11.50 for shipping, i think thats a bit steep.

can ocuk source parts like this or can someone pm me details of where to try for this replacement part, i hope the mods dont mind this, its an honest request for help but if ocuk dont supply these part i hope its ok for someone to pm somewhere to try.

many thanks ;)

This forum isn't provided as a method for communicating directly with OcUK, with the exception of the Customer Services section. However laptop parts are expensive, £50 isn't overly expensive for a laptop keyboard. The only other avenue might be to look for a second hand one taken off a broken laptop.

Are you sure the keyboard isn't fixable? Before buying a replacement I would try:
Remove keyboard, rinse through with water. Dry thoroughly - hair dryer. Leave in warm place (airing cupboard etc) for a week. Re-fit.

yeah i was prepared to pay the 50 quid but £11.50 for delivery for something that is very light indeed is a bit rubbish :( i was hoping that someone might actually know if ocuk actually deal in such parts. There are no faulty laptops of this model on ebay im afraid.

im assuming its not fixable casue its a sealed unit, i have not tried to fix it, is this method you mention been known to work sometimes, its is only water that was spilled on it nothing sticky.

thanks guys

Hard water area or soft water?

If the former, washing lots with water, then rinsing with distilled water, then drying would be well worth the 60p for the distilled water. You're going to have to take it apart to fit a new keyboard anyway

yeah i have already had the keyboard off to get the part number, i am in a soft water area in scotland, will washing and rinsing with tap water be ok or do i still need distilled ?

Tap water would be the same then, don't need the pure stuff.

I'm in a very hard water area so this was the first thing to come to mind. Id hate to think what a coating of limestone would do to electronics
