My new pen

Why spend 5k on a watch when you can buy a watch for 5 pounds?
Why spend 25k on a car when you can get half decent car for 2.5k?
Why spend 600k on a house when a 250k house will do?

You get some idiots on here spending a fortune on clothes with labels attached. If he enjoys pens, he enjoys pens. Each to their own.

With things such as cars and houses, the difference in price regularly exhibits itself in the way of quality or size.

If one house costs 3x much as another, it's generally because there is a valid reason for that.

Location, size, finishing and over all quality as well as the amount of land that comes with it.

As for a car, your example wasn't that accurate in my opinion, it should be more compared to the likes of a Ferrari because they're up in the realm of diminishing returns.

Okay it's a super car and can go really fast, but I personally find them ugly and horribly overpriced and find no reason why they cost hundereds of percent more than adequate cars that still maintain some luxury.

Slightly mystified by this attitude, seems to be the most common one in the thread.

We post watch threads and nobody bats and eyelid. I like rsatd don't wear a watch, haven't for years because I have my phone, yet we don't see anywhere near as many people spamming the backside out of "look at my new watch" threads.

Guy has a nice pen, wanted folk to see it - I don't really see the problem. Each to their own, whether its spending their money on pens, watches, mobiles, cars etc we all think someone else is wasting money, but we don't all post about it.

I don't get what you mean, all the watch threads I've came across have had people complaining about the pointlessness of an expensive watch.

Ludicrously expensive is more accurate really. I will never understand the desire to own expensive things such as watches that don't do anything more than the cheaper versions you can get.

I don't even like wearing watches at all, I find them redundant for my purposes considering I've got a phone on me at all times.

But anyway, I've seen plenty of people complaining about needlessly expensive watches.

I love people on here, having a go at this guy for buying a decent pen - but willing to spend £100+ on a mouse and keyboard combo.

n00bs! lol

You're missing the point though. If this brings enjoyment to his life then so be it. Some people smoke all that money going up in smoke. Some people waste 100 quid in a weekend on drink. You could go on and on.

Meh.

I bet I could still have the top chewed off it by the end of the first day, £125 or not.

I love people on here, the way they try so hard to make comparisons that don't work.

Keyboard and mouse bundles at £100 do actually offer something over the cheaper options.

Or 'Lawl £150 on a grafficks card' care to list something cheaper that does the same job?

I have 2 Dell 2408s, do you think I would have bought them if I could get an equivalent that performs the same for half the price?

Hey, I love orange Lucozade Energy, would I buy them over the cheap rip-off version that costs half as much if they tasted the same? Of course I wouldn't. I like the taste of Lucozade over the cheap rip-offs, if I want the Lucozade taste I have to buy Lucozade.

As for a pen or a watch, its purpose is to draw lines on paper or to tell the time, that is their purpose, they don't do anything else over it.

I found it painful buying a rotoring technical pen but I needed one and only rotoring made the one I needed.

I usually do though, I think smoking and drinking is also a horrible waste of money.

I fail to see how a pen can bring enjoyment to a person's life. Moe with his pickled eggs jar springs to mind.

It's a pen, all you do is write with it, if anything the act of writing and creating written works would bring some one enjoyment, not a pen.

It's like saying my airbrush brings me enjoyment, no, using it to paint is where the enjoyment comes from.

Don't you think a £125 pen will have better build quality and be nicer to use?

I bet you have an Iwata instead of some cheap crap though.

Ehh, you got me, I've got 2 Iwatas. But my comment still stands, cheaper airbrushes can't be used in the same way.

The cheaper ones contain a lot of plastic parts which restricts the types of paint that can be used through them. As well has producing a finer droplets of paint than a cheaper one.

In terms of a pen though, I just can't see there being that many differences, Compared to an airbrush, my ones cost about 1.5 times the cost of the average cheap airbrush.

Yeah, higher build quality but that is mainly just for aesthetics isn't it?

The same goes for fountain pens, quality of flow, smoothness of drag, balanced weight etc. Harder to argue the same for a Ballpoint I'll admit but to some extent it's the same.
