Does anyone know of a webpage that has a map of which speed camera's in france are forward facing and which ones are rear facing ??

they are all listed on tom tom european maps

if it helps I have a *cough* friend *cough* who has been flashed probably about 200 times and never ever heard anything back

I read they don't send most camera tickets/fines to the UK.. (Like it a 50/50 if you get it)

You won't get a fine sent to the UK. In the past few months I've been flashed about 15-20 times by French speed cameras, twice at over 150mph (E40, 4am, not a car on the road, dry, good visibilty etc before the hippies jump on me) and haven't heard a peep.
I have also been stopped by the Gendarme since and they didn't have any record of the previous speed camera flashes.

Don't worry about the cameras. Watch out for the police though, if they catch you there's no getting away with it.

Even if they would send it like Germany sends to Holland, you can laugh at it and use it as toilet paper, they will remind you twice and raise the fine but then they forget it. Hell, in reminder 1 they even send a nice big picture of you :D.

that stretch of the E40 is fantastic, although as i'm on belgian plates i never went above 200km/h :o

like i could reach 150mph anyway :p

But can't stay at that speed for long with the wind blast..:p

Scuzi what bike you ride ??

Wind blast wasn't a problem since I had a windscreen and roof :p

My bike can barely hit 100 nevermind 150. Anything over 85 pulls my arms from their sockets anyway :p

The Camera's can't YET send a fine to you in the UK, so don't worry too much if you get flashed by one.

If the Police catch you, you could be in deep dodo as they will basically take you to a Cash Point for you to draw out whatever sum they demand. You have two choices here, you either stop or you go for it. Most of them are in Punto's and similar so are fairly easy to outrun. OF course I wouldn't advise this, and have never done it myself ;)

Not many cars can outrun radio communication though.

Why?

I think if I had any real intention of speeding (120+) I would probably take two debit/credit cards with me, keep one in my wallet and one in the card. The one in the wallet you could have just £50 on it or something silly, then they cant get 750 Euros off you!

I'd be hugely careful of doing anything over 130mph, my colleague had his license taken from him, is car impounded and from memory a 2000e fine for doing 145mph.

he had to get someone to fly over and pick up his car because the police would not release it back to him.

speed cameras don't even worry about them they advertise the fact they are coming up anyway although that just makes me speed up!!

cash only chap, and yep they frog march you to the nearest town, and the "non parlais francais" just gets you bundled into their car.

they are pretty good at getting their point across and your money into their wallet, if you cant pay they will wait till you get it western unioned over, seen it happen to a number of ski seasonaires over the years. oddly they dont really care about drink driving they just fine you for that as well
