Anyone with a diesel fitted a K&N Typhoon or similar intake system?

Can't see the point really, a diesel engine regulates itself by restricting the supply of fuel not the supply of air.

Probably depends on the engine, and unless its something seriously impressive that is running extra BOOOOOST or some such, I doubt there is any point to it.

From time to time, the air intake on DAF's (12 litre in-line 6's) tends to work loose so and in effect by-passes the filter completely.

The truck tends to run worse than with the filter assembly as it should be!

Makes you wonder......

That'll be the 2 tonne of gravel in the engine then from these things sucking... :p

It is true that a restrictive intake can cause a problem - when I had a blocked air filter my car could barely make it up hills.

However, most manufacturers are capable of designing an intake that is nonrestrictive enough for the engine. Possibly with the exception of Rover :D

I have a panel filter and bigger intake on my Ibiza PD130 ( PD160 intake and Green cotton panel filter). It remapped to 177bhp/313ftlb's. tbh, not sure if it makes any differences,..make an awesome whoooshing sound though we you let off..
