A lot of things you can only learn practically.

It has everything to do with learning style - businesses want people they can rattle off a load of instructions and the employee goes away and does it - for a practical learner you can give them they instructions 1000 times and they won't be able to take it in until they see it in practise and tried it for themselves - they aren't thick they just have a different style of learning.

What doesn't appear to be common knowledge is that there is 3 main styles of learning - visual, practical and from hearing instructions/cues. Unfortunatly most education and businesses work on the most prevalent learning styles so some people get written off as being thick when infact they just can't cope with that particular style. (Under 20% of the population are kinesthetic/tactile learners).

No, from the looks of it she was just inept...

Your average person can learn competently visually, practically and aurally and may be labelled as a "practical learner" if that is how they learn best.

However if someone is completely incompetent at learning visually or aurally and are from the looks of it barely capable of learning practically they have learning difficulties.

They may not be technically stupid, but it's just another way of dressing up incompetence.

It could also be that she was very tired though, due to the lack of sleep... ;)
 
I'm a practical learner, give me a list of 100 instructions and I'll get lost. Show me once and I remember it forever. She was just stupid and had a poor attitude. If I'm perfectly honest it's the parents fault they are like this, especially that essex rudeboy, he needs a hammer to the head to knock some sense into him.
 
I watched some of this with the fit annoying blonde cleaning that hotel room. I cant stop thinking about the video I had "Young, Dumb and full of...

She wasn't just inept - she was a practical learner AND inept - so I have some (small) amount of sympathy for her... thats like getting knocked down and then reversed back over.

As Janesy B said - theres many practical learners who you can rattle off instructions too as many times as you like and they will NEVER pick up on it - but show them how to do it once and they will never forget... they only have learning difficulties if you look at it from a very one dimensional viewpoint.

... If they have difficulty learning then they have learning difficulties. If someone simply cannot learn visually or aurally then they are obviously having difficulty learning.
 
The richer the parents, the dumber the children. Funnily enough there's actually a few who post here at OcUK who come across as just like that ;) Not mentioning any names, but I'm sure there's others who know exactly who I'm thinking of...
 
I watched this on BBC3 when I was going to bed the other night. Just flicked onto it and didn't turn it over.

The things that stood out for me were the incredibly stupid ones. The girl who referred to the cleaners as slaves, what a douche. Just no comprehension/sympathy/empathy/tact at all, she was SO thick. When she was delivering the food out; couldn't remember what was on her tray after being told 3 times and repeating it to herself. She had the concentration span and focus of a fish. What a serious retard.

The essex lad, thinking he was some sort of legend saying how he is going to make something of himself and mouthing off to the hotel manager...yet not actually amounting to anything but being a spoilt brat of rich parents who had worked and earned their money leigtamatley. Spoilt, aggressive, childish, ***head.

The dark haired one who reminded me of Waynetta Slob from Harry Enfield "See this is why I don't work" - What? Because you got 30mins sleep, got drunk the night before and are generally an idiot anyway?


Some did seem ok. The guy that got ejected just needed to stop being a slack mother ****er and spoilt by his mum for example.

The girl who cried because of the other girls stupidity/lack of respect. She was still an idiot but at least had some common sense/decency to realise the other girl was a ****.

It's that type of show that was addictive viewing because it was making my blood boil about the state of some people and their lack of grounding. All of them need a reality check that is for sure, but their parents are just as retarded too. Hopefully seeing their kids on TV being ****s for a month or two might sort them out also.
