Anyone here an expert in photocopiers?

I am stuck between a few different brands of colour copiers, Canon, Konica, Sharp and panasonic.

I usually would go and find an active forum dedicated to photocopiers, but funnily enough one doesn't actually exist!

Canon - Excellent image quality, medium build, lots of features (like bleed, yadda yadda) if you need to output proofs and stuff recommended.

Kyocera - Cheaper end of the market, the new models are supposed to be really good, especially compared to the previous colour ones, reasonable service costs etc. Same machines are often rebranded as UTAX and Copystar in diffferent markets.

Just noticed you said Konica, don't know about them much.

Sharp - don't know

Panasonic - Supposed to be awesome , built like tanks, easy to fix/repair/maintain, pricy, parts are expensive, loaded with features as well, but Canon probably still better feature wise.

Personally I'd go for Panasonic, had a few canons and never been that impressed. How are Xerox these days - I think they kinda suck in the last few years?

Obviously the contract you get with the thing will matter a lot, your volumes, and the type of thing you print.

There IS a good copier forum somewhere (US based) but dammned if I can find it..

edit Knew it - soon as I posted I found it : http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/

Thank you so much :D:D

The contracts etc are all pretty much the same, currently have a panasonic machine, but just want the best quality machine for the money.

if the contracts are pretty much the same, you say to one company - "this other company can give me the same as what you are offering me - what are you going to do to make me want to give my money to you?" And then they either give you something extra, or drop their prices... Do it with all the companies.

And depending on your volumes, for example, you may find that one contract is better for say <30,000 a month, and the other contract works out better if you print more than 30,000 etc etc.

I don't really want to go for the cheapest though, hence the thread, I want the best value for money, if the Konica is 5% more but twice as good quality, why bother with the Pana?

Well, purely by printing quality alone on the quality of the items we sell
I rank them in the following order
1. Konica
2. Ricoh
3. Sharp
4. Canon
5. Panasonic

Then you ring konica and tell them poana do it cheaper. Theres always wiggle room . . . .

I got a Ricoh MPC 2800 in the end.

Konica was too expensive.
Panasonic very surprisingly had the best picture quality!!
Ricoh was an excellnt comprimise.
