NVIDIA Forceware 190.38

Cause a hard reset after locking up with looping sound on my 9600gt laptop, this happens almost instantly when playing l4d survival...ahh well back to the trusty old 175.90.
ive just had a similar problem music was playing then hard locked, bsod saying Nvd dll

I sometimes get the feeling nvidia are rushing out these new releases. They've been coming thick and fast this year, maybe they're trying to use it as a new selling point since the whole rebranding thing got kind of tiresome.

186.18 Seem very good to me.

185.xx are the only ones recently that have been truly terrible tho some earlier 180s had missing features.

Are there any tangible performance increases in games? That's the only reason i update, never really use CUDA =/

No problems with these, TF2 ran fine with winamp running, firefox running, windows update running, overclocked everything...meh seems same as teh BETA version :p

It's strange that this only seems to happen when playing L4D, the drivers seem okay with css, tf2 and tracknations. Rolled back to 175.90 as they seem to be the last set I can use for stability. 186.xx forceware driver had its own set of issues for me, gpu activity under windows was erratic, the gpu seemed to load itself up randomly even when no 3d was running this would cause occasional crashes.

Machine is a GX620 - P9500, 4gb, 9600gt 512DDR3, vista x64.

Wouldn't mind hearing from others with the same machine to see if this similar for them or something more sinister.

I will have to give these a try. All the 186 drivers won't play hd-dvd discs in windows 7. I hope they have fixed that now.

Are most people running the 186.18s then? been a while since i last updated my forceware drivers and would like a stable set of drivers

No such thing. There are always bugs in every release. It just depends if you use software/hardware which the bugs affect.

As I said, I can't use any 186 drivers as the hd-dvd playback is broken in all of them. This wouldn't be a problem to people without a hd-dvd drive and discs, but it's a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for the heads up, about time to try some more recent drivers. Is there much of a performance increase, if any in this ver?

Thanks for posting, can't say I've observed that anomaly, and I would know as my GTX280 is very loud when spinning up.

I've put in some (read too many!) hours in Fallout 3 and suffered one CTD yesterday with these drivers, but seems pretty stable beyond that, and I've always had issues with Fallout 3 crashing in the past, no drivers seem to completely eliminate that, it's not the most stable game.

What problem are you having?

Well no surprises then that it's suffering the same issues as the BETA since there are no apparent changes, and there is just days separating their availability.

I have no serious issues with it yet, though I am yet to check general performance/frames. No locking up or anything like that. One thing I did notice was that when I lock my computer and enter the password, on getting back to the desktop the resolution changes down to 800x600. No idea if this was an issue before though, I only locked it by accident. Can anyone else confirm this?

i get bsod on vantage, also the beta version of this driver was crap also for me...the 190's drivers on my pc are very poor...the last good beta driver i used was the 186.08

It must be an SLI issue then, as my card is running just fine with these. I can't see any changes from the BETA except for the certification. I don't think there are any performance improvements so you may as well stick on the 186's until nvidia sort this one out.
