Hey guys

I'm looking for an estate or a van with a low insurance group as I'm 19 and only passed in February (so don't have any no claims yet).

Reason i need a van/estate: I do a lot of competitive windsurfing all around the country so cover a lot of miles and with a lot of kit. At present my parents still have to take me as my clio isn't powerful enough to tow the trailer and this is something both they and i want to sort.

Budget of £4-5k

Min engine size: 1.6

Everything else e.g. trim can be bare bones just need something cheap to insure, can cover lots of miles and is fairly big (to store kit internally).

Any recommendations?

Edit: Also any recommendations on cheap insurance companies? (ive checked all the big names e.g. rac, direct line already)

Astra estate van i would say

Pick one up from bout 3.5K 1.7cdti so small saving on van could go towards ins, i was considering one of these for ages, just never got around to it.

As for ins, because its technically a van im sure it becomes dearer.

Just try the usual jaz like compaire yer meerkat or money supermerkado, My issue with ins companys is i tell them i do 4000miles a year, i do way more than that, but how do they know. so just look at what you can tweek on the sites

Pretty much any estate you can think of that is within budget and not a "hot" version, will most likely be easily insurable, due to the percieved image of those types of cars compared to the stereotypical age group that you are in.

I find mileage makes next to no difference unless you start ramping it up to stupid amounts.

I needed a van for my business but insurance was stupid until I hit 21 so I had a Mondeo Estate for a couple of years until I turned 21.
