I've moved to T-mobile about a month ago and now need to dump my old 3 contract, anyone know the easiest way to do it?

Is it possible to swap my old number to my new contract considering I've already started it? Or do I just phone up 3 and battle through until they let me cancel?

Thanks :)

When does your 3 contract expire?

Just ask them for a PAC code and tell t-mobile so you can use your old number.

I believe it expired last month, but I was itching for a new phone so joined T-mobile. I'll give them a call :)

So T-Mobile will port my old number despite me already being a month into the contract?

You should be able to port your number at any time if you have the PAC code.

Phone 333 from your 3 mobile to cancel.

My friend tried getting a PAC code from 3 the other week, most painful experience of his life.
For 20 mins he was told he shouldnt leave and it was pointless him going elsewhere and no one was better than 3!
Another 15 mins he tried to said he would be dead in a month and didnt need the contract as was terminally ill, they still wouldnt listen and tried saying maybe a family member would need the phone to arrange the funeral!!!

Yup, had a very similar experience recently:

<Me> I want to cancel my contract please.
<3 Bangalore> Certainly sir, before I put that through may I ask why you're leaving?
<Me> I get very patchy reception at home.
<3 Bangalore> OK, I can put you through to our technical engineers to resolve the problem.
<Me> I reported the problem six months ago and it hasn't been resolved.
<3 Bangalore> OK, do you have a particular new phone and provider in mind?
<Me> I'd like the Nokia N97 but I haven't looked at new deals yet
<3 Bangalore> OK, I see you are a heavy internet user. What if we offered you free internet?
<Me> I can't make or receive calls at home, there's no point continuing with 3. I would like my PAC code, please.
<3 Bangalore> OK, how about if I offered you a free phone.

[Loop around for 45 minutes, offering me ludicrous deals like free line rental]

<3 Bangalore> OK, I'll put that request through for you now. In the meantime, what if we offered you...
<Me> AAAAAAAGHHH!!!!

I intentionally said that I didn't have a new plan in mind so they wouldn't try all this nonsense with me but it was no use. :(

Just say you are going to the new iPhone - nothing they can say with that - they dont need to know anything regards the PAC code generation so it wouldnt matter...

ps3ud0

If you have any problems etc with three i basically wouldn't even try to talk to their call centre staff. Send an email straight to [email protected] for the attention of Kevin Russell as the executive team does have the authority to make decision unlike the call centre team.

I had a painful experience when I moved one of my contracts away from 3. Infact your story Tunney is almost identical. She even went as far to say that being a young man I can afford to pay for a new contract AND keep the one with 3!!!

I eventually managed to leave.

Wish I had it that hard, been trying to get free internet from 3 so I can get the n97. I get a good signal and hsdpa connection where I am, but they wont do it, even when I said I had another 2 phones all out of contract they just would not give me the internet add on from free. Ended up gettin all three pac codes

Oh well off to orange to get the HERO

Strangely when I try to leave them a few weeks ago, they offered me the n97 and even gave me free internet. I decided to go for it just to check it out and confirmed whether I could cancel my contract within the 14 days cooling period, to which they said yes.

Fast forward to Monday when I try to cancel it, and they kept saying I used it when I didn't even put a sim card into it :S. For some reason they kept saying that I told them I put a sim card into it, so whenever I told them I didn't, they said I was lying to them.

To make matters even worse, the internet add on I was promised wasn't even on record so they would have charged me £5 extra in my bill. Hours and days of complaint later, they gave me the internet pack for free again and £20 off my next bill.

Looking back, I wish I had just cancelled my contract and gone for a Magic or Hero instead. Those idiots at Three misinformed me about so much and lied. I'm gonna be writing them a letter of complaint now.

Sorry for taking this off topic but I had to vent this and hopefully warn people about Three. They're already losing my brother and cousin as customers when they come to upgrade.

Anyways gl to OP.

I dont understand why people enter into conversations with these people. They are legaly obliged to give you a PAC code.

When asked "why are you leaving?", the response is "because I dont need this phone any more. Please give me my PAC code"

The response to any question after that is "I have already made my mind up. Please give me my PAC code"

Dont tell them what phone you want, what services you are after, they will only use it as a bargaining tool.

After a couple of minutes of "I have already made my mind up. Please give me my PAC code" as the only thing you say, they will soon give up.

Have you tried cancelling with 3 yourself? It doesn't matter what you say, they will continue offering you deals. I repeated the same demand for my PAC for half an hour before they would give it to me. They do not take no for an answer.

That has to be one liner of the thread!!
You stand no chance!! Legally obligated or not, they will not give you any PAC code without forcing you to listen to how wonderfull their network is and why you are stupid for leaving!

Well i phoned 3 today , and said that i want to leave etc. Then i was put through to someone else he then went on asking me questions where do i get bad reception, have i used my sim in a diffrent 3 phone blah blah.

As my singal is very poor at my home address and at my gf's it was hard to understand him anyway. But they are going to phone back "maybe" within 48 hours to see if they can wager it so i dont have to pay a disconnection fee as my contract doesn't end till May 2010 - so id have to pay £181 or there abouts :/

meh...

then Iphone time :)

Very frustrated when I got my contract cancelled. Took about 30 minutes of me saying "please cancel my contract".

They should not be allowed to ignore you for 30 minutes!

I will NEVER use 3 again.
