What Car?!?

Very nice, if slightly looking its age. But in 3 months time will you be wishing you brought something a bit more sensible and comftable as a daily driver?

Only driving 10 minutes there 10 mins back each day.

Makes sense but....

So why get rid of the Escort?

^^^This,

Not many Escort RS's about, obviously you like it, it's fun, you know the car and it's easily the cheapest option to keep it.

Clios, Civics, ITR's are all pretty much on par with an Escort RS just being a lot less rare and special. You seem to have the perfect car for what you want?

lol. some people dont read.

I dont want to tot the mile up on a classic. So its either sell it or garage it.

I want something more modern that i can drive to work that is common, quick and nice for a decent price.

Im still set on an RS Focus.... simply because they hold their value.

The problem with a 21 year old Escort Turbo is the fact that anything can go wrong at any moment. Something thats simple to fix but you just don't have your screwdriver on you... etc. For example the other day - driving along and bang. One of the hoses to the intercooler had come off, but didnt have a screw driver to re-attach and tighten the jubilee so had to call the AA to tow me home.

Is that not your fault for:

  • Not checking the hoses
  • Not carrying any tools

???

Same will be said for a £6k Focus RS, only thing with the Escort is that it'll be easier to fix due to being an older, more simplier engine.

However I can understand the want for a newer/different car.

so that when something goes wrong, you can fix it? same reason as in any other car. not like they're a huge weight or take up lots of space.

I have a UK DC2.

Re comfort on long journeys it's not an issue at all, the seats have very good support and std suspension is not that stiff. It's more controlled than harse.

Motorway communiting 5th gear is quite low, so it gets a bit noisey. Down to personal preference however

Great cars don't really go wrong, mpg good for performance. You need to go out in one driven well else you could wonder what the fuss is about. Integra is a car that rewards a good driver.

You're not doing this to save a classic, selling it cheap will definitely send it to a good home. So you must just be after something cheap and reliable to run big miles on.

Keep the Escort for now, start driving to work with it. Advertise it for sale properly, get what it is really worth, then buy something else.
